the printing project that is ruining my life

Oct 10, 2006 10:30

well, for those of you interested in an update of my side job and all the printing jackassery, here we go

Late sunday night we had 199 CDs screen printed - they looked great. (1 was sacrificed to the 'is it dry' gods)

Yesterday we got the following
1) new screens
2) new ink
3) new emulsion
4) a stiffer and larger squeegeeeeeee
5) a better jig (which included the clever use of "spray mount")
6) a better attitude
7) a bottle of tequilla

and we had awesome success. the ink takes a long time to dry, so we added 2 hairdryers to the mix. we are not only going to finish this porject, but it is going to look AWESOME when all done. Awesome, of course, by our standards, which are pretty low because we drank that bottle.

Here is a pic of us working. i think we just got started because i'm not covered in ink yet.

Here is on of some of what we got done last night (they look better than the pic, but i wanted to reduce the size/quality to make it load faster)

We've got 150 (or so) CD sleeves to work with tonight. Putting the black image on the cover, then the red on the inside. Then 1 more session after that to get the black on the inside. go team STALE.

Oh - and clairepea - tell Debra thanks for us! We were moving in the directions she suggested, but it was great to hear it from someone else to validate our thoughts. Beeing a n00b sux.
