Status Update ( Long Overdue)

Jun 12, 2012 01:32

So it's been forever and a day since i updates this thing. WOW! Has it been a strange ride.

The last time I updated I was still working as a contractor for the USEPA, running Heroclix most Thursday nights at a little gaming store in North Raleigh (Lost Goblin, you knew too few summers), and I was doing movie reviews.

So these days I am back working for Harris Teeter part-time while continuing to search for full-time/permanent work. I am back in Wilmington, bereft of a local RPG game currently, poised to help run an IRC game for the Mind's Eye Society (formerly the Camarilla for those with long memories). Trying to keep my head up and soldier on as best I can.
Aside from that I can't really complain too much. I have a roof over my head, the support of my family and a job to go do. Being single seems to be a better option for me currently so while I keep my eye open, I a would not say I am actively seeking that special someone.
I have gotten back into recreational cycling and upgraded my current bike to offer better performance. Clip-less pedals and the cleated shoes to take advantage of them, along with a replacement reservoir for my Camelback. My best run thus far has been 8.07 miles in 37 minutes, with an average speed of 13 mph. Yeah not running the Tour De France, but considering I only picked the habit back up in March, I don't feel that is too bad considering the shape that I am in.
Other than that, I am currently spreading time among a few video games: Eve online, Diablo 3, and a third game which I have an NDA covering currently. I'll speak more on that when I am at liberty to.
Eve is a specatacular game that has continued to hold my interest for the past 2 years. I am currently a leader within a Corporation, which has just joined a mid-sized alliance. Working in the lawless space of the game to gather resources and punish those who would attempt to take that which we hold has proved to be an interesting aspect of the game that I had shied away from initially, but am not starting to appreciate.
Diablo 3 is an excellent follow up to the previous incarnations of the game. the changes to the skill system make the flexibility of character development very dynamic and offer a decent number of options for each class as they develop. As with the previous incarnation of the series I went with the barbarian initially and have not been unhappy with my choice, though I am starting to hit some wall in progression that will require others to overcome. Not a bad thing with the easy ability to join up with other through battle.net. Need to start asecond character soon.

I'll post more about the game I am looking forward to later.
