nine out of ten
Character/Pairing: Tsubaki
One out of ten. He only succeeds one out of ten times. He should be ashamed of himself. After all, numbers don't lie, and right now, the truth is he's a coward who crumbles under the merest hint of pressure.
Tatsumi changed everything though.
Tatsumi, who his brain automatically associates with wrinkled shirts and careless grins, is filled with so much confidence that he has enough for the whole team. He has more than enough for Tsubaki.
So he takes the words of his coach to heart and finds himself being able to enjoy that single moment of success amongst his failures and it's enough.
For a while, it's enough.
He can't remember when it happened exactly. What he remembers is half-shame and half-joy. He played well in the first half but the second was a disaster. Dazed and confused, he vaguely remembers the encouraging slaps on his shoulder, the words of encouragement and in the background, the roar of the crowd.
And it's not enough anymore. Tatsumi is smart. He is cunning. And sly. But most of all he's wise. So his words are truth. One out of ten must be enough. But Tsubaki wants more.
The fans may be content with one out of ten, but he isn't. Not anymore.
