So Good to Be Home

May 01, 2011 19:25

So fucking good to be back! I will actually be posting in this journal now, regularly, as opposed to say...the four years in which I've had it. Shed the old name, took on the new and feeling a million times better and freer to porn it up. Porn with feelings, meta thoughts, and playing with ideas--this is my agenda. :)

So happy to have a fandom home ( Read more... )

Rule 10 also owned my life for a significant period of time. There's this one update where Arthur broke down and asked Eames "What are We?" and that moment was just perfect for me. He was so broken and Eames was trying and the scene before it w/ him pressing Eames against a wall and coming was sooo ridiculously hot...

And also the art was *pretty.* How are you? It's good to say hello after so long :) And I'm talking tragically long because I never commented to say how your girl A/E drove me mad, like it was so fucking perfect and suggestive and Eames as leaning into Arthur's neck and I couldn't even breathe...So yes, this squee is late but it's heartfelt. And as you can see from my journal femslash A/E is my hardcore kink. IT just makes the world a better place. :)

Is genderbending a trope you like to play with? What inspired you to try it? And how did you decide what aspect of the character you wanted to...translate? Did you do femslash in other fandoms? P.s. if you like female Eames check out Moonmoth's Half-Way Gone (http://archiveofourown.org/works/127040).

Where is this emjambament fic you speak of? I'm going to go off in search. :D

Hmm...and if you liked Rule 10 I think you'll love Helenish's fic. It's just chock full of the most intense feelings and all these noble in-character actions and just the boys being themselves. But if you're in the mood for a WIP, check out her Pants on Fire Amnesia fic. It's soooo good.

YAY so glad to have a fellow femslash fan 8D There's a lot of awesome things that A and E usually are as males but what if they were female? All of their interactions everyone would change just slightly and gah I like it so much. Plus the sex would be so hot >_> I don't really have a mindset for Arthur and Eames as females, but I do have this thing where Arthur kind of falls for Mal but I think that happens in my world with Arthur being either gender xD. But I guess working in a world like dreamshare can be harder on a female, as it usually is in any profession. And right now I'm not in any other fandoms but I usually do enjoy genderswitch 8D

OH YOU~ aside from helenish' fic I actually read everything else. INCLUDING HALF WAY GONE <3 that's my favorite fic! And I have to the podfic which thankfully is on my phone and not my ipod because I have listened to it on repeat for an embarrassing amount of times.

http://enjambament.livejournal.com/ I have read this person's fics like 10 times each ): even when I had deadlines and homeworks and midterms. OMG SO GOOD. hahaha

Pants on Fire is a WIP D:? I thought it was done.

Oh, PoF is done, but the other fic is WIP. I meant to say if you're not in the mood for WIP :D

I don't know if anyone's ever really in the mood to keep waiting, although there have been a few things where I've needed to take a break to process before reading more.

Yay for fellow femslashers! I don't remember who made the post where they flipped the cast's gender but it was fantastic. Dom, Robert, Nash, Arthur, Eames, Yusuf, Saito--all female. It was an utter dream. I think it would be a subtly different movie with same motivations in place but playing out in such different ways. The podfic for Half-Way Gone is soooo good.

I find myself catching different details when I listen to it versus reading it. Pointwoman's been doing an interesting project where she casts Arthur as female and develops most of the stories through comment fic. I haven't followed it as well as I could have. I think I'm more hesitant about stories where only Arthur is female. I'm not sure why. I prefer where they're both female, but since Eames is by nature a chameleon, maybe it's easier to capture the character's essence in any form one chooses.

I know I've read work by emjambament but I can't remember specifically what they've written. Which means I need to invest some more time. Or I could finish my Really Important Paper. Sigh, be an adult or seek immediate gratification. Le sigh. Choices...

But I guess working in a world like dreamshare can be harder on a female, as it usually is in any profession

I wonder what the benefits are though? Do you think there's anything in dreamshare that would be easier/better suited/better for women? And I keep wondering what Mal's job was. I feel like she must have been boss at it. I know we're only seeing her shade, but that determination to win at all costs, that competence--I think they're parts of her real character. What do you think?

And how's life? What are you up to these days?

Actually gah there's so many social rules that comes with being female that I don't really think about with male characters. Part of the appeal of slash for me is there's no gender roles and I can never roll my eyes when the girl starts to fit some cookie cutter definition of good girlfriend. It irritates me, even when good boyfriends don't. Maybe I can make a comparison to make myself seem a bit less sexist xD do you ever watch k-dramas? The girls, no matter how strong and independent in the beginning will eventually fall for a guy and become all ~girly~ and depend on him to fight away mean people and she softens and they fall in love.

):

So I don't think it's realistic for the whole Inception cast to become female but that would be hella different. I WANT FEMALE SAITO!!! :D I think there was a female saito/Eames fic somewhere out there? I dunno, I think the change in genders is a lot more prominent when only one or two characters are different, so you have the control group who ends up acting different as well because their dynamic shifts a bit. I wonder if Cobb would still yell at Arthur like that on the first layer of the dream-- actually he probably would because I think he and Arthur are more like... boss and subordinate and that's what they do... and Arthur's "calm down" attitude might be the same and horribly I want male Eames to be a little furious that Cobb is yelling at Arthur like that OH MY ROMANTIC FANTASIES...

Have you read the Mal-centric fic that weatherfront wrote? After reading that I can't be sure that Mal was even happy to be in any dynamic with Cobb involving dreamshare. I doubt that they were in the criminal field... so what they did was academic? and didn't have strict rules? But who's to say she wasn't just a trophy wife whose grandfather was a part of a very interesting project. then again she was very dangerous in Cobb's dreams and I think he would only have dreamed that if he thought that she was capable of that type of violence.

Life has been really stressful and actually I took some time out of eating to write you this x'D gah, so brb! going to eat <3 TELL ME ABOUT YOUR LIFE TOO. ERM. TOUCH... ME. . get in touch with me! XD

Hahaha! I will get in touch with you! Hmm...the mystery of Mal. I think I lean towards creating a lethal, stealthy, dominant female character when given the chance and Mal could so easily be that. I love the touch of danger, the hint of...madness you can imagine in her real character. But you're right--she could be so many things or nothing at all like we see her from anyone's perspective.

And a female Saito would be interesting. You're right about the shift in one character allowing you to better see how that shifts the group dynamic and each exchange. This makes me ponder, but I won't keep you from your meal and I'm going to finish up this research. So I'll email/lj you my thoughts. :)
