So if I could feel like more of a holiday villain, someone please let me know.

Today is apparently Halloween. I am not American by birth and though I've watched the halloween hooplah on my television screens many a time in Jamaica, and seen the odd party now and again, Halloween to me is a ridiculous excuse for a holiday. Anyway, I have seen a few news stories about Halloween coming up and there have been a few posts in LJ as well. However, I didn't really pay attention, except to mock some costumes and praise others.

Anyway, I'm in the kitchen preparing my dinner and I look through the window and see two ghoul-like figures walking up my driveway in the pitch black (why is it pitch black at 5pm?). I freak out, seriously, and immediately start thinking that there are two men trying to sneak up my drive-way and KILL me. So, I stand there (yeah) watching them approach and they turn out to be two young boys (approx. 10-13yr. olds). Still, a bit trepidatious, I timidly open the kitchen window (not the door cause they might still be wanting to torture me) and ask 'How may I help you?' Their response was 'Trick or Treat!' I felt soooooooooooooooo horrible for not having any candy and cursed my Jamaican roots for not caring and allowing me to be in this situation where I now look like the worst neighbour, EVER. 'I'm sorry I don't have any.' They turned away, rejected, and continue on their candy hunting ways.

After all those news items and lj posts, it still never crossed my mind that kids in costume would be coming to my door expecting halloween treats. Duh! Now, all I will remember about this year's halloween is how I was a terrible meanie.

Oh, Reese and Ryan broke up. It's not as tragic as my beloved Brad/Jen split but I do feel like there is really no hope for hollywood couples anymore. Poor fools.

Watched, Howl's Moving Castle a few days ago and immediately recognized Emily Mortimer's voice as Sophie. Billy Crystal? No brainer. But why oh why after my many proclamations of love did I not realise that Howl was voiced by Christian Bale? I am a horrible fangirl.

Real life: Still single. Now that's a quandary for the ages. After all, am I not fabulous? I know!

halloween, villain
