oh sure thing! It's actually all really simple and I hope I can explain it to you, cause I've been thinking of putting up flyers to give lessons in my town. Oh, and I used PS 9.0...old, I know! I just jumped all the way to CS3 as well, but haven't really explored it yet. Things should be mostly the same though. Ok I'll do his hair. For the hair: Make a new copy of the picture layer (I do this a lot). Play around with these settings: Image:Adjustments:Hue/Saturation. Desaturating the layer will make the image b&w, a good start for giving someone with brown hair black hair. Then go to Adjustments:Curves, and move that around. You may have to do it several times to get it exactly the way you want it. I find that messing with the contrast doesn't help with hair. After curves, you probably want to marquee around the hair, select inverse (ctrl shif I), and delete the dark layer exept for the hair. Finally, you may want to play with the layer setting. Over on the layers window, see how it looks when you change the layer style to "multiply", or "color burn". Also play with the layer transparency.
I'll tell more later, I hope you can make heads or tails of this. :)
Intensifying eyes is also really simple. What I do is make a new layer, natch, and go to Image:Adjustments:Color Balance. There you can drag the little bars to your heart's content, and get even more striking effects by doing it more than once, and playing with layer transparency and style. Try multiply for a really dark, intense color.

Your instructions helped a lot - I'm not really friends yet with the curves tool but I hope it'll get easier with time. :D
I'd love to change/intesify the colour of Jensen's eyes - how did you do that?
