Oh the DS love <3

So after a day of videogames I have the following conclussions...

The narratives of videogames are wacky. Seriously wacky. Formula: bad guys steal something from good guys and scatter chaos, good guys have to kick arse to get it back. A logical start to any adventure. I am, however, rather smitten with Kirby Squeak Squad because the whole thing starts out with a picto-story about how much kirby likes snack time, then has his sugary treat stolen so you spend the rest of the game fighting hard to win back a piece of stolen strawberry shortcake. Adoribubble.
At least Super Princess Peach has a bizzare sceptre and the great role reversal of mario being kidnapped.
Tetris DS classic mode is lame because it gives you too many hints of the blocks that are coming next, gives you a ghost block in the play area and has endless spin which is a cheat, but it is cool because as you win lines the upper screen scrolls old nintendo super mario levels. The extra games are more interesting.

Luckily perry has a mod chip, and i have one in the post, or i would be broke really quick because I cant imagine that the gameplay of anyone game could justify $40-$60 (except for certain classics maybe.... *cough* tetris *cough*

The ds is is cute - it isnt serious gaming - it is the evolution in platforms for people who grew up and dont want to stray too far from classic gameboy and snes style games. Which suits me to the ground in addictiveness. The gameplay of Kirby is identical to when i used to play it on the original gameboy - but it has lasted for a reason. Not only that, but the games are cute, seriously cute in that way that only nintendo gets right.

The stylus is cool - but annoying mid gameplay especially as they are small and easy to lose - somegames are less senstive and you can just touch the screen but discovering you cant in the middle of a task is annoying. The multiscreen is a great addition because it doesnt interupt play to use or review features that would either be in a seperate menu or a drop down on the computer.

Conclussion: I will never bemoan public transport, long car trips or waiting rooms for a long time.

Back to work and life tommorow.
