house/
furnishing 1) In Feng Shui terms, your front door, your bedroom and the siting of your cooker are the 3 most important considerations. We spend between a quarter and a third of our lives in the bedroom, re-charging our batteries in an environment that needs to be safe, secure and intimate. Family rooms, kitchens and playrooms are active spaces -Yang whereas where we sleep needs to be fundamentally more Yin and relaxing. The best position for the main bedroom is furthest away from the front door, preferably diagonally opposite the entrance also. On a subliminal level, this gives you the extra feeling of protection, stability and security. The worst possible scenario is to have your bedroom facing or close to the front door.
Hmm okie my bedroom is going to be v far from the main door, which is good WAHAHAH… but seriously, who will build a house or flat with the bedroom next to the front door? Then if neighbours are noisy… *$%!!! Common sense right?
2) There should be no shoes or slippers lying around outside the main door of your house. Remove it if you can. Allow that space at the main door to be free and clear. The chi (energy) rides with the wind and will collect all the smell of those shoes and slippers into your house causing sickness. Ch’i then travels about in your house looking for water to stay but if there are no water fountains or fish tanks, then the Ch’i will be dispersed by wind.
LOL, for me, the only reason why I dowan to keep things outside is that they will be stolen! But anyway, my new flat doesn’t have a lot of space at the front door so I can’t put a lot of “smelly” shoes and slippers there anyway.
3) Place an indoor water fountain in your home, position in a favourable area to attract whatever you want in your life.
4) If you already have a fish tank in your house, be careful. A fish tank placed correctly can bring about greater fortune, as you will tap on the "Divine Water Dragon's Den". But if you tap wrongly, it can cause you to have lawsuits, bankruptcy, work pressure, troubles and problems. If you noticed any of these after placing the fish tank for approximately four months, shift your fish tank to another location.
Fish tank… so troublesome. Water feature is nice, but must maintain, or else got mosquitoes…Got money or time then I will think about this…
5) If you have a lot of work pressure, maybe it's the marble table that you have in your dinning room that causes you to have those problems. Remove that marble table and change to a wooden one or alternatively live with that work pressure!
No money to buy marble table anyway...
6) Do not use a red sofa set: The colour red represent the element of fire. And for Feng Shui, some places simply cannot have the colour red in that sector. For example: the wealth area or some other sectors which without a Feng Shui check would be unable to tell you where it is. A red sofa sets gives rise to heavy work pressure, troubles and obstacles.
Eee I don’t like red sofa anyway.
7) In your kitchen, ensure that opposite your stove there is no refrigerator, washing machine, washbasin and toilet. The fire and water crash causing family members to have disagreements.
Who will put the stove near the refrigerator, washing machine, washbasin and toilet??? Imagine sorting your laundry while there’s fire at the stove, or cooking food while someone else is in the toilet…
8) Try not to allow children to sleep on mattresses on the floor. Yes, this allows young children not to fall off beds but it also causes young children to fall sick frequently. The reason is: chi is not able to flow underneath the bed. Ideally, chi should circulate around the mattress where our children sleep to allow them to be healthy.
9) If your child usually falls sick in that bedroom: Then either change them to another bedroom or simply hang a six rod metal wind chime as the metal element will break all the earth energies in that room. After hanging, if the wind could not do the job for you then you will have to "chime" it yourself and then watch for the good results.
10) Do not allow children to sleep on double bunk beds even if it means saving space. The child sleeping underneath will not have "fresh chi" and so his health might be weak. But if due to space constraints, then monitor your child's health if not add in a metal 6 rods wind chime or a crystal sphere, to break up the "stale chi" around his bed.
No children. Don’t care.
11) For young children, try to have their back to the wall when they write. It is important there should be a solid wall behind a children's writing table. This allows the child to have support so that he can sit there and study longer rather than for only half an hour and then they tend to move about because there is no solid wall behind their back. Adjust your writing table.
I already wanted to do this for my table, because I don’t like (or rather, hate) it when people are standing behind me, or walking towards my back while I am working. One of my pet peeves.
Feng Shui for the Bedroom
1. To set the tone for a harmonious relationship, an equal sided room is best with no sectors missing. If you have an adjacent toilet or bathroom, always make sure that this doorway is closed when you are asleep. Bedrooms positioned above garages are regarded as a Feng Shui "no, no" as the dead space below you gives the bedroom a lack of support.
? Who want to sleep with the toilet door open?
2. How you decorate and furnish your bedroom is purely personal but there are a few considerations regarding colour from a Feng Shui point of view. Green has a very calming effect; blue while it is relaxing can be a little too cool. The colour yellow is very stimulating for the mind and you may become too restless or spend hours and hours at night reading. Peach coloured walls and furnishings are said to encourage affairs! All shades of red, including pink and salmon encourage romance. Too much red will bring too much fire (Yang) into the space; small amounts can be used to bring the fire of passion into your life. These could include red or pink lampshades, rugs, photo frames or candles.
Hmmm ok…
3. The most important feature of the bedroom needs to be the bed itself. Firstly, consider the position of the bed relative to the door. Avoid a situation where the door opens directly onto your bed or where you sleep, directly opposite to the door. Try to position your bed as far from the door as possible but at the same time with a good view of the door from where you sleep. To bring stability into your relationship, make sure that the bed itself is stable. Make sure that the bed has a good strong headboard to protect your Chi while you sleep and avoid sleeping with your head facing an open window, as this will drain away your Chi as you sleep.
Ya who likes to sleep with the door facing you, which explains why the master bedroom has a odd-shaped entrance…
4. Sleeping directly on the floor is not ideal, as it does not allow Chi to circulate below you. The gap between your mattress and the floor needs to be kept clear - this is definitely a clutter free zone! Handy though they may be, storage units under your bed are less than ideal. They have the potential to disturb your sleep and limit the charge of Yin force (Earth force) to re-charge you while you sleep.
5. Double-check the age and quality of your mattress and futon. Did you purchase it from new? Did you buy it in a jumble sale? Did someone die in it? Did it belong to your ex? Mattresses have the habit of absorbing Chi and need to be replaced regularly, turned regularly and given a good few hours in the sunshine every few months. If your mattress or futon is old or second hand, get rid of it now!
LOL who wants to zzz in second-hand mattress??? Or mattress belonging to an ex??
6. Lying on top of your bed, have a look above you to see what is possibly raining down on you. Avoid sleeping under shelves heavily laden with books and old magazines, sleeping in an alcove with cupboards above your head full of old books is also not ideal. Overhead electrical devices such as lights and fans need to be positioned away from your bed. A skylight above your bed will allow your Chi to dissipate while you sleep. Overhead beams and their heavy resonance of Chi are likely to cause you restlessness and discomfort as well. They can be made to disappear by painting them the same colour as the ceiling, installing a false ceiling or if you live in a wonderful Tudor period house, consider having a four poster bed with a canopy to protect you from the overhead beams while you sleep.
I think I don’t want books etc. overhead anyway because it feels claustrophobic.
7. Mirrors in a bedroom can also be a Feng Shui nightmare. They should be avoided if they can reflect your image while you are asleep as this effect can also drain you. Round and oval shaped mirrors in bedrooms are ideal, full length dressing mirrors can be cleverly concealed inside a wardrobe.
Heh I just dowan to look at myself in the middle of the night, when my hair is messy and all. NIGHTMARE... hahaha
8. Look around your room for potential sources of disturbing electrical currents from radios, digital clocks, television or personal computer. Ideally, the personal computer should be banished to another part of your home along with the recharging device for a portable telephone. Radios, clocks, electric radios, clocks and televisions need to be as far as possible away from you while you sleep.
Ya will try to do this, but I am more concerned about the EM radiation than the Chi…
9. As with any other room in your home, check the position of where you sleep for any cutting Chi that may be aimed at you while you are asleep from the corners of cupboards, bedside tables, chests of drawers, mantlepieces and fireplaces. Round off any sharp edges and soften them with some kind of cover or drape.
Want to do this because I got this habit of knocking into things, then always have bruises.
10. Always open your bedroom windows at least once 20 minutes a day to allow fresh chi to come in, we do this so that it allows fresh new chi from outside to come into your bedroom, if not you will be sleeping with stale chi every night. And if that happens, then how can you expect your life to bring in more good fortune to come to you? So open that window and never mind if dusts comes in! The great good fortune that you can have will far exceeds the time you take to clean off the dust.
Erm common sense right? Ventilation is important, feng shui or not. Heh anyway dust is made up of dead skin cells, even if don’t open windows, also will have dust.
11. Your bed should always have a solid wall behind you. This is important if you wish to have a good rest. A solid wall simply means that you can go into deeper sleep and therefore enabling you to have good rest so that when you wake up in the morning, you will feel fresh and well rested. This also allows you to be able to concentrate on your work better.
Think this is same as the work desk. Dowan people to walk behind you while you sleep…
12. Create a relaxing yet warm atmosphere in the bedroom through different forms of lighting. Experiment until you find a solution that is both practical and asethetically pleasing. A good reading light can also be balanced by the more romantic feel of candlelight as well. Check the South Western sector of your bedroom as this relates to relationships. Avoid putting your dirty linen basket in this section! Current, happy photographs of your and your partner and any kind of symbolism of relationship in this sector is ideal.
13. On waking, it can be a great motivation to be greeted by a photograph or poster or painting on the wall ahead of you. Think of a special landscape perhaps that has inspired you in your life. It needs to be an image that is both tranquil, uplifting and epitomizes your journey in life. Every morning we wake up to new possibilities - the image in front of you needs to bear this out rather than a blank wall or an image of struggle. To really get your day off to a good start, always remember to make your bed! Leaving behind a trail of clothing that didn't make it to the laundry basket and an unfinished bed, all has the possibility to get you off to an incomplete and messy start in the morning.
Hmmm, after reading these, I concluded that feng shui is common sense. I can be a feng shui expert too.
