Some interesting and meaningless trivia:
"The Bridge Wars" were one of the first major beefs in rap music, a dispute between the Bronx's Boogie Down Productions and Queens' Juice Crew over the birthplace of hip-hop. In one notable salvo, Juice Crew member Roxanne Shante dissed BDP member Scott La Rock while referring to an early hit record from a Def Jam rapper, saying: "When T La Rock said 'It's Yours', he didn't mean his name."
In 1987, Scott La Rock was killed during an attempt to break up a fight in the Bronx.
Then in 1994 -- and this is the weird part -- T La Rock was severely injured during an attempt to break up a fight in the Bronx. He survived, but suffered brain damage and required extensive rehabilitation.
Epilogue: Roxanne Shante later earned a PhD in Philosophy from Cornell University. Fellow Juice Crew member MC Shan became a pariah (or at least should have) after unleashing Snow on the world. A licky boom boom down.
BDP frontman KRS-ONE, like his contemporary Chuck D of Public Enemy, continued making the same record over and over again long after it stopped being fresh or relevant.
