What a day...

Aug 05, 2005 23:48

This has been one of the most interesting days in quite some time.

1. Tait, the maintenance man, falls in the Loggers Run water trying to check the pump. Not fall as in, losing balence and just falling back. He slipped on the cement near the waters edge, fell on his ass. As he sat there, he kept sliding down the slope toward the pump intake(10 foot trench where the water goes into the pump). He stopped just at the edge of the trench, in about 2 feet of water. If he had fallen into the trench, he would have gotten sucked up against the grating and we would have had to E-Stop the ride for him to be able to come back up. He the stands up, looks at us, and shakes his head. He then realizes he still has his radio, checks to see if it works, chucks it about 10 feet into the grass. walks around and grabs my radio(a five minute walk). Shane asks him why he couldn't get ahold of him, "My radio is currently out of commision," "why?" "look at the cement near the pump(they were by the pump at this time, tait was at the station with me)." Shane notices the lines in the sludge where Tait slide down the slope, sees Tait's soaked atire, and just cracks up. And of course, we later got a guest complaint about maintenance "goofing off," while the should have been fixing the ride.

2. Somebody tackled the Dodgem's height stand, completely sheared it off the base. That takes quite some force to do that. I had to stand there for 15 minutes for Dan to get there because the base was now sharp, and maintenance took to damn long.

3. I had stalkers. 3 girls and a guy stalked me all day. They asked me and Paul Knape if we had ever slept with a guest. Later they complain to paul about the fact that Timbers exit photo deleted thier photo. He asked why. "Cause we did this," then flashed him. They saw me again later(I still don't know about they photo incident[which reminds me, I should talk to Matt in exit photos, every photo they have to delete, the print out and put on a key chain]). They ran about 20 yards up to me and grabed my arm, and wouldn't let go. So here i am, on the busiest midway in the park, the one Chamile, Janet, and all they other managers use the most, with 3 girls and a guy hanging off my arms.

4. There is a new park service employee. during his interview with Jon, he told him his life story. the interview took an hour and a half(they normally take 5 minutes). Jon just had to hire him, not because he thought he would be a great employee, but because he knew that Laura would have to listen to that whole story at orientation the following week, and she did. today, he started talking to Noe in the break-room, Noe stood there for 30 mins. just listening to him talk.

we all topped it off by 20 of us going to pizza hut.
