hi, my name is rich arnold, i'm 8 years old, my favorite band is counting crows and when i grow up i want to be superman.
that's what i took from thw show tonight. i really wish that there were some more elequant way i could articulate how i felt tonight, but that's the best my feable mind can muster. the second he played omaha i was 8 years old all over again and sitting in the back seat of dave deccico's dad's station wagon. and there, in my orange super mario 3 shirt, i heard omaha on the radio and within a fwe hours i was begging my mom to take me to bradlees (yah....1993 baby) to buy the cassette. and because i have the best mom on earth she took me. but now i'm prattling. the point is this was nearly 13 years coming. they played almost entirely acoustic songs off of august and recovering. those 2 albums have honestly gotten me through so much.
it's funny when people ask me why counting crows. because, admittedly, i obsess, but honestly to really appreciate it you need to grow up with it. there will be times when you feel so isolated, but i listen to august and everything after and for that frozen moment someone is there with me. his writing isn't blindly optimistic, it's extremely pessimistic for that matter...but theres hope and thats worth sticking around for.
more than anything im glad kev and sloan were there tonght. if there was a soundtrack to mine and kevs friendship it would be that sprinkled with richard ashcroft and penny arcade dialogue.
all in all <3.
