In which Ben and Nellie become even more complicated

Nellie was wearing a new deep purple dress, heels, and her hair was fantastically styled on the top of her head. She slung her arm through Miranda's as they got out of the town car and headed for the door of the bar Anna worked in.

"Think she's gonna be happy to see us?" Nellie smirked. She really was hoping this would give them a hint of who this mystery guy was.

"Depends," Miranda said with a smirk. Miranda was wearing something red and strapless, taking advantage of the nice warm weather. She leaned in closer to Nellie as she reached for the door of the bar and held it open. "On whether or not she expects him to show up."

"Good thing for us, we have nothing to do with the rest of our evening," Nellie grinned, leading the way towards the bar.

"Very good thing for us," Miranda nodded as she followed her in.

Nellie spotted Anna and grinned as she sat herself down on a barstool right where her friend couldn't miss her, pulling a stool out for Miranda as well.

Miranda settled in as well, and it was a few minutes later, before Anna made her way down. "Hey, guys -- how's it going?"

"Just fine," Nellie replied with a tilt of her head. "How are you, darlin'?" She made a point of letting her eyes scan the room.

Anna rolled her eyes before shaking her head. "I'm fine. Can I get you guys something to drink?"

"Hmm...surprise me with somethin' fruity," Nellie nodded, turning back to Anna.

"Me too," Miranda nodded, and Anna disappeared down the bar to make their drinks.

"Whatcha think?" Nellie asked. "He here?" She looked around at the few good looking guys that were in the room.

"Hmmm," Miranda replied, looking around, before watching Anna. "Nah -- she's not nervous."

"Shame. Guess we'll just hafta have fun and save snoopin' for another day."

"Guess so," Miranda shrugged. "Oh well. Maybe he'll show up while we're here."

"Good reason to stay here and drink," Nellie nodded, waiting for her drink.

"Exactly," Miranda grinned as Anna brought their drinks back and she picked hers up to take a sip.

Nellie was starting her third drink and she was grinning, leaning against Miranda a bit. "Annnaa, darlin'. Come play with us," she said brightly. And yes, her drawl thickened quite a bit when she was drunk.

"Yes," Miranda said with a grin. "We're all loooonely."

Anna looked at them both, before shaking her head. "I think I'm cutting you guys off."

"Nooo," Nellie gave Anna her best pout and batted her lashes. "We just tryin' to have some fun and spend time with our beautiful Anna."

"And you guys are starting to slur. You're lightweights, you know that, and I'm gonna have to be the one to take you home."

"Means we get to stay til closin' time!" Nellie's arms went up in victory, but she started to fall backwards off of her stool. Luckily a guy standing nearby acted fast enough to catch her. She beamed up at him. "Why thank you, sir."

"That was very nice of you," Miranda said with her own nod of approval.

The man righted Nellie on her stool and flashed the blonds a grin. "I'm a nice guy," he shrugged.

Nellie giggled. "Lucky us."

"Mmm-hmmm," Miranda nodded, before holding out her hand to him. "I'm Miranda. And that's Nellie."

He shook her hand with a nod. "I'm Kevin. Pleasure to meet you both."

Nellie leaned over to shake his hand as well. "Kevin, let me buy you a drink for savin' my life."

His brows raised a bit, his smile creeping higher. With the 'score!' thought clearly going through his head. "Sounds good."

"Good," Miranda grinned, before tugging on his arm and pulling him between them. "And sit for a while! We can talk."

He smirked and sat beside them. "Are you two here with anyone?"

Nellie linked an arm through his and grinned. "I'm here with her and she's here with me. We're havin' a date."

Kevin's eyes grew and he swallowed, speechless.

"Mmm-hmmm," Miranda nodded. "And we're probably gonna go home together later. And we might be a liiiiiiiittle drunk."

"Oh? Two pretty girls shouldn't be trying to get home on their own. If you need a hand.."

"Would you do that?" Miranda said, slapping his arm slightly. "That's so sweet. Because, our friend Anna is supposed t' take us home, but we're kind of annoying when we're drunk, and she has better people to do."

"Better than you two? I find that hard to believe."

Nellie nodded. "Uhhuh. She's havin' secret sex. Me an' M'randa aren't."

"Nope," Miranda shook her head. "We're not even having not-secret sex."

Kevin frowned. "You two are too gorgeous to not be having not-secret sex."

"Awww," Nellie grinned and leaned into him. "You're so sweet. Ain't he sweet, M'randa?"

"Very sweet," she nodded. "And he's right! We should be having not-secret sex."

"Well we already knew that, darlin'. We just don't have anyone to have the not-secret sex with."

"That's very true," Miranda said, crossing her arms in front of her chest lightly.

"That does cause a dilemma," Kevin nodded.

"Yup," Nellie nodded. "Even Maggie is havin' more sex than us."

"Which is sad, because she's Maggie, and she's really kind of a prude."

"She's way too hot to be a prude, too," Nellie nodded.

"But she's got issues," Miranda nodded. "But seriously. Even she's having sex and we're not. That's sad."

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Kevin glanced between them with a concerned look.

Miranda grinned slightly at that, before starting to trip her fingers over his shoulder. "Maaaaaaybe."

He grinned, glancing over to Miranda. "I would be very happy to help. Both of you."

Miranda considered this for a moment, before looking over at Nellie. "We could share, right?"

Nellie frowned, not quite catching on. "Share what?"

"Kevin, silly," Miranda said with a giggle.

"Hmmm...I dunno. I do love you M'randa, but I'm not sure I love you that much."

"Oh," Miranda said with a slight pout, before turning back to Kevin. "Are you here with anybody?"

Kevin looked between the girls and shook his head slowly. He didn't really want to lose his shot at a threesome with two hot blonds. "I'm not," he said. "My friends took off a few minutes ago."

"Awww," Miranda said with a slight pout, before leaning in to rest her head on his shoulder. "You're all alone."

"But I'm having a drink with two beautiful women," he protested.

Nellie chuckled. "That you are."

Miranda flashed him a bright grin, while Anna shook her head and turned to pick up the phone, dialing a familiar number.

"I'm still curious how you two don't have boyfriends," Kevin went on. "Beautiful, funny...it doesn't add up."

"Well, I'm hopeless single and have the attention span of a gnat," Miranda said with a nod.

"And I don't want a boyfriend," Nellie shrugged.

"But that all adds up to no sex," Miranda sighed.

Kevin shook his head. "I still think I can fix that," he smiled. He leaned over to Nellie. "You never know...it might be a lot of fun."

Miranda just looked at Nellie for a moment, before turning suddenly at the sound of the bells on the door jangling. When she did, her face lit up. "BEN!"

Nellie choked on her drink at that and looked over. She immediately felt like a kid caught in a bad situation by a parent. "Ben," she said quietly with a nod.

Kevin just looked over at the Ben guy nervously.

"Ladies -- dude," Ben said with a nod, before looking between Miranda and Nellie. "How's it going?"

"What are you doing here?" Miranda said with a smirk.

"Was in the mood for a drink," he said with a nod. "Who's your friend?"

"Oh! Ben, this is Kevin. Kevin, this is Ben."

"Nice to meet you, Ben replied, extending a hand to him.

"You, too," Kevin shook his hand, a little uncertain as to what was going on.

Nellie just drained her glass. "Kevin was just talkin' about helpin' me and M'randa with our problem."

"You guys have a problem?" Ben frowned, moving over to the other side of Nellie and getting a beer from Anna.

Kevin just kept quiet. He wasn't sure yet if he needed to bolt or not.

"Mmhmm," Nellie nodded. She pouted at Anna for a refill.

Miranda looked between the two of them for a moment, before taking Kevin's arm and starting to hop off the stool. "C'mon. Dance with me."

"Sure," Kevin nodded, going along.

Nellie looked after them. "No fair leaving me!"

Miranda looked over his shoulder at her. "It's awkward dancing with three people!"

"No one else is even dancin' silly," Nellie laughed.

Miranda stuck her tongue out at her, before taking the lead in an awkward slow dance. Ben just watched the two of them for a moment, before shaking his head and taking a sip of his beer. "That guy has no idea what he's getting in to."

Nellie frowned and gave him an annoyed look. "You sayin' somethin' about M'randa?"

"Not a bad thing," Ben said, shaking his head. "She'll probably rock his world if she actually goes home with him."

"Yea, well maybe we both will," she said, looking away.

Ben raised an eyebrow slightly. "Didn't take you for the threesome type."

"Can't hurt tryin' somethin' new. 'specially if it's the only way I'm gonna get any."

Ben's head tilted to the side slightly. "It can't be the only way."

Nellie rolled her eyes and ignored him, calling over to Anna. "Annnnnaa, can I have another?"

Anna raised an eyebrow at her before shaking her head. "I cut you off, sweetie."

"You're no fun," Nellie frowned. She looked over her shoulder at Kevin and Miranda and sighed. She was slightly disappointed that she wasn't going to get sex, but she was happy for her friend.

Ben glanced over at her before nudging her slightly. "Maybe we should head home."

"Yea, maybe," Nellie said softly. This wasn't how her date night was supposed to end. Then something occurred to her and she looked at Ben with a frown. "Is Miranda too drunk?"

"I don't know," he replied honestly. "I've never seen her drunk before -- she's usually the designated sober person."

"Think she's okay if we leave her?" Nellie asked, also glancing at Anna.

Anna looked over at them before nodding. "Yeah, I'll keep an eye on her. You guys go."

Nellie glanced at Ben, then Miranda, then looked over at Anna. "I dunno. I might stay and talk to Anna a bit," she said quietly. She wasn't sure she was ready for an awkward car ride with Ben. Especially since she was starting to sober up.

"You sure?" Ben said quietly. "You could get some sleep."

She knew she probably should, but she was still struggling. She bit her lip and glanced at Anna, almost begging her friend to tell her what she should do.

Anna gave her a soft look before nodding. "Go, Nell. I'll watch out for her."

Nellie looked down at her hands. "Can you give us a sec, Ben?"

"Sure," Ben nodded, before moving away and heading towards the jukebox.

"I can't go home," Nellie said, looking up at Anna. "Not with him. That makes it harder to avoid him."

"Well -- maybe you shouldn't be avoiding him," Anna said with a sigh. "You're never going to fix this if you're avoiding him."

"I don't know what fix I want," she admitted.

"Well, you can't figure out what fix if you're avoiding him either," Anna pointed out.

Nellie pouted and sighed deeply. "I know," she muttered. She got to her feet, a bit unstable. "Love you. Have fun with your boy toy."

"There's no boy," Anna called after her, before watching as Ben started to walk towards Nellie, taking her elbow gently.

"Everything okay?"

Nellie pulled her purse over her shoulder. Yes, it matched her skimpy purple dress. "Fine," she murmured.

"Okay," he said with a nod, before sliding an arm around her shoulders. "Let's go home?"

She tensed up with a nod, pulling away from his arm.

Ben let her go with a sigh, before sliding his hands in his pockets and starting to head out the door with her.

Nellie sighed and kept quiet, kept to herself, all the way home. She pulled up her purse to dig her keys out to let them in.

Ben stood quietly behind her, hands in his pockets and waiting for her to open the door.

She got the door open and walked in, saying nothing as she started for her bedroom.

"Nellie," he said softly, starting to reach for her arm again.

She stopped but didn't look at him. "What?"

"Nell, look at me."

Her eyes closed for a moment before she looked up at him. "What?" she asked again.

He watched her for a moment, before leaning in to kiss her gently, moving one hand up to cup the side of her face. At first she resisted and didn't kiss him back, but then in the next moment her arms went around his neck and she fell into him. He moved his arms around her waist and pulled her in closer, leaning in to kiss her harder. She moaned softly into the kiss, her hands moving up through his hair.

Ben started to pick her up slightly, backing her further into the apartment until he felt her back hit the wall. Her legs wrapped around his waist and when they hit the wall she pulled him in closer. His hand moved down, sliding over her legs as he leaned in closer. After a minute, he broke the kiss for air and started to trail his lips down her neck. She bit her lip and rested her head back to the wall, her hands holding his neck. He reached the base of her neck and paused for a moment, resting his head against her shoulder.

She whimpered slightly, her breath heavy. "No games," she whispered. "Make up your mind."

"No game," he said softly. "Just -- is this what you want?"

Her eyes closed. She still didn't know exactly what she wanted. Beyond that moment. In that moment she just wanted him. "I...I don't…right now...yea."

"And if after right now, this isn't?" he asked, looking up at her, biting his lip.

"I don't know," she muttered. "I don't know." She pushed herself closer to him. "Please Ben," she begged softly.

He watched her for a moment, before leaning in to kiss her again, getting ready to cross a line that he wasn't sure he should be crossing, but he really couldn't say no to her now. She kissed him back, her hands sliding down his chest and stopping at his belt, already working it off of him. He moved his hands over her thighs again, pushing her dress up as he moved in closer. She pushed his pants down off his hips and tightened her legs around him to pull him in closer.

When it was over, his body leaned into hers, resting his forehead against her shoulder again in order to catch his breath. She relaxed her grip on him and leaned back, trying to make everything stop spinning. As soon as he was steady he started to pull back from her, looking to put her back on her feet again. Her feet on the floor, she let her dress fall back to her knees and still leaned back against the wall.

Ben pulled his pants back on, before moving closer to her again, letting her hands rest on her hips. "We okay?"

She nodded, looking up at him. "We're okay."

"Good," he said with a soft sigh. "So what does this mean?"

Nellie really wasn't sure what to say about it, so she sighed with a shrug. "That we can have really amazing sex?"

He chuckled slightly. "Does it also mean that we should sleep on it and see how we feel in the morning?"

She nodded. "I think we should."

"Okay," he nodded, before taking her hand and starting to pull her back towards his bedroom since it was closer.

She didn't go with him. "I...I think we should sleep on it...separately."

"Okay," he nodded as he let go of her hand. "Fair enough."

She nodded watching her feet a moment, then stepped around him. "Night Ben," she said softly.

"Night, Nellie," he nodded, before sliding his hands in his pocket and heading back to his bedroom.

A piece of her felt like a mean person, but the rest of her just wanted to collapse in bed and sleep. So she went to her room and did so.
