“You’re cheating.”
Val arched an eyebrow at her brother, before shaking her head. “I am not.”
“You are,” Ben smirked, before spinning the giant wheel in the middle of the board game.
“How is she cheating at LIFE, Ben?” Angie said, giving her brother a look. “I want to see proof here.”
“Because I said so,” he replied, before pushing himself closer to Nellie as he moved his car down the road.
“Okay, now you’re just being immature,” Val rolled her eyes, before settling into her chair more and reaching for her glass of wine. “You can’t cheat at LIFE, Ben. So give it up.”
Nellie glanced over at Ben, before shaking her head slightly as she went to take her turn. “It’s just a board game, darlin’. No need to take it so seriously.”
“Oh, you don’t know?” Angie raised an eyebrow. “Ben takes his board games very seriously.”
“These two used to cheat me all the time when I was a kid,” Ben said with a sigh. “I’m a little-competitive.”
Val looked almost insulted. “We didn’t cheat, you just didn’t know how to play the game.”
“I did. You told me that in gin rummy, you were allowed to take another card if you didn’t like the one you got.”
“I did not,” Val rolled her eyes. “That was Angie.”
“Hey, I was eight. I didn’t know better.”
“And I was four. You think I did?”
“Alright, alright, alright,” Nellie laughed. “I think I get the picture.”
“Yes, can we just play the game?” Val asked, gesturing to the game board.
“Please,” Angie sighed, waiting for Nellie to finish her turn, before spinning the wheel. “Besides-even if we’re not cheating, you’re still gonna lose.”
“Is that a challenge, sister of mine?” Ben asked, raising an eyebrow slightly. Angie looked back at him with a smirk, and Ben just grinned at her. “Oh, it’s on now.”
Nellie looked at him for a moment, before turning back to Val. “We should be worried, shouldn’t we?”
“Oh, yeah,” Val nodded, before downing the rest of her glass in one gulp.
