1st shift ✖ voice

[ The voice is of a man, close to middle age; he sounds tired and more than a little pissed off, with a hint of confusion (though the confusion just seems to make him even more pissed off). Those who are familiar with Hank Pym, aka Yellowjacket, will recognize the voice as his. ]

This is Yellowjacket, does anyone read? Repeat, does anyone read?

We're listening to you, so I don't suspect anyone is reading, sir.

It's a figure of speech.

Oh.

I'm sorry, I didn't know.

Did you just arrive?

It's...alright. Mostly used in strategic operations and you sound a bit too young to be familiar with anything like that. But then again, nowadays, you never can tell. These are difficult times we live in.

[ A beat, as he looks around. ] Yes, just now. [ Another beat, as he hesitates. ] I'm not expected, am I?

Oh! I've heard of some of those things, but not many. I suspect that Peter might know more.

Well, I don't think you are. Are you looking for someone in particular? I can try and find them for you.

Peter. Peter Parker?

It's more like I'm looking for a way out of here. There are places I need to be right now, and if I don't get to them on time, a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

...no, Peter Pevensie.

I hate to tell you, but I'm afraid that there is no way out. You have to simply wait for the City to allow you to leave.

I'm Lucy, by the by. Lucy Pevensie, very pleased to meet you.

You can call me Yellowjacket, Lucy Pevensie. And Peter is your father. Or brother, perhaps.

[ Firmly. ]

There always ways out. Even the most technologically advanced citadels can be penetrated, with the proper tools and planning. I'm not restrained. I've retained my abilities. What exactly is keeping us here?

That's a very odd name, but yes, Peter is my brother.

[There is a pause, here]

Well. I'm not altogether sure, if I am to be honest. Everyone says this is a pocket dimension.

It's a codename. A hero alias. Do they not have superheroes here? Or mutants?

[ He sighs. If he was really Hank Pym he'd have some kind of smart-sounding answer, but he's not. ]

I've dealt with different dimensions in the past. The Negative Zone, alternate realities. But I've never heard of one like this. Are you from here?

Oh! I think that there are mutants! I've heard that term, anyway...and superheroes, of course. Like Miss Kara. I think Caspian knows some.

No, I'm from London.

Caspian -- another brother?

So this place diverts people from all over, then. Hm.

lionesscouchant August 13 2009, 00:05:04 UTC
Well, in a manner. He's not really related to me.

Yes, it does; many different worlds and many different kinds of people.

[ In a low voice. ]

Is there a man named Tony Stark here? He'd call himself Iron Man.

lionesscouchant August 13 2009, 00:08:35 UTC
I know Mr. Stark! He offered to help me set up a projector so that we could watch Pinocchio!

Oh, I'll see if I can get him for you, if he's your friend!

[ He sounds a little uncomfortable. ]

It seems he's found me, Lucy. I appreciate the offer, though.
