Place to exchange Canadian currency in coins?

I studied abroad in Canada for a couple of years and returned last year. It was a rough time for me. I only recently started really going through everything I brought back with me.

After going through wallets, purses, backpacks, and suitcases, I've come up with about $30 in Canadian change -- primarily loonies and toonies.

Passports aren't particularly expensive -- I think with the application & acceptance fee, they come out to about $80.

Anyway. Go to a bank. Most banks will do currency exchanges, though they may charge something like 10% as a fee.

Thank goodness it's good for 10 years, heh. I think it's less expensive to have it renewed than it is to get the initial one (don't quote me on that, though).

it is less expensive i do believe. and i don't think you have to go in person like you do for the initial passport...it's quite worth having.

It's only $67 if you have an expired passport and renew it through the mail.

1) It depends on one's definition of expensive. Eighty dollars to some is the difference between security and homelessness.

2) Did you actually read the post or did you just skim it? The OP said he/she has called many banks and NONE OF THEM will accept Canadian coin.
