Excellent suggestions. I can only add trying to make the most efficient use of your drive time - combine multiple errands into one trip, rather than making multiple individual trips.

Use the AC (believe it or not) instead of opening the windows

*wishes for a car with AC* Why AC instead of opening windows? Wind drag?

I've heard that if you're going under 40-45 mph (an approximation), windows down is better. Over 45 is when it starts creating enough drag that it outweighs the savings from not running the A/C. So maybe windows down when you're on surface streets and A/C when you're on the highway?

What about using the vent and fan? Does that hurt fuel economy?

This is true. My husband's a mechanic. :) I've also put it to the test for years now. With my last car, which was a van, I had to fill up ever 4 days if I used the A/C. But if I didn't I could go 6 days, sometimes 7 depending on my errands that week.
