I don't know if this is the place for me being that I haven't had any problems (yet) with income but here goes.
I'm 16 still living with my mom but all that changes in a year. I plan to attend college as soon as I finish high school. I don't want to end up in debt so what tips do you guys have for me to avoid this?
Also, is having a credit card bad? I've asked my mom on several occasions whether or not I should get a credit card to build up my credit when I'm older and she just responded with "Never get a credit card, they will ruin your life." But I've been told by other adults that its a good idea to have one but make sure that you have money to pay off the bill.
Another thing is the apartment I'm going to live in. Around here, apartments run from 550-800 dollars. And to add to this, I will be living on my own and have considered living with a few other people but I've opted not to. I will be living on a student's income so my question here is, how should I go about saving money? I have a feeling that for a long time my life is only going to consist of school and work. If I get a job starting this summer should that be enough to at least get me through the first few months of life on my own?
I hope this wasn't confusing. I didn't know what to ask or how to ask it really :x
Edit:Thank you thank you thank you! This has really helped me out a lot. I have a lot more questions and its obvious you all know what you're talking about!
