Ok so this is awkward.
We rent a 2nd story (and 3rd story attic) 2 br, 1 bath house.
We've had ongoing problems with our landlord since ...December? cumulating in finally calling the Health Board to get things fixed aka
a broken front door that would get jammed and make it unable to close or open
a broken upstairs door to porch (never fixed)
windows actually put into the holes in the attic
a pipe burst in attic and ruined the pantry/alcove between our kitchen and dining room. It took 4 months for him to get rid of the mold and fix it and he stood us up repeatedly saying "the repair guy will be there at 4 on X day" and no shows. (I took off from school 4 times, my roomate 3 from work and lost pay).
So saying we're moving and definitely have to because he constantly verballly harrasses us about eviction since we called him on this crap. Oh and a $1200 bill he says we owe him for heat (another story).
So saying, my roomate lost his 2nd part time job. He still hasn't gotten employeed since he left college (histoy ba)except at a temp agency and the job they placed him in last July still hasn't hired him full time, other jobs he interviews at says he is "too skilled" yet they pay more!
So last summer I paid our first months/security/rental agents fee for us which was around $3800 from my summer job.
So far he's paid me back 60% of that.
Now? I don't know if I'll be working again this summer since I have summer classes and he only has $120 put away for a new apartment. His parents keep going back and forth on helping us, then saying we can move in with them 2 months when the lease is up for him to save money for an apartment.. but I don't want to put everything we own in storage and have 2 dogs and a cat!
Any ideas at all what we can do? He's talked about asking for a loan from the bank but we don't know if that's possible and my family is already helping me pay my moving costs! I've no idea how he's going to get first months/last months or security..whatever it is they want. He only makes enough each month to pay rent/bills/food and I really can't downgrade our budget again!
loans,
moving,
debt
