Single moms?
Hi! I need advice from the single moms!
I've been looking over the msg. board, checking out tips for eating cheaply, etc. but I'd like to hear some personal stories from single mothers. How did you do it? What sort of help did you get? Is it do-able?
The only single moms I know of live with their parents. My mother told me, "If you ever get pregnant, you're on your OWN" and my boyfriend "isn't ready" (even though we are both 25, with college degrees). So if I chose to have a (potential) child, I'm on my own. I work PT (but I'm interviewing for FT jobs and considering substitute teaching), live at home and don't have a lot of friends who could help me out.
A studio apt in the area would be expensive. I've been thinking about those ads on Craig's List where a family will rent you a bedroom at a low cost in exchange for housecleaning. Does anyone have experience with something like this?
Does anyone recieve government assistance?
