It's going to be spring soon, up here in Maine (in fact, it's been really warm all this week), and I want to start a little pot-and-planter garden this year, partly because I'm poor and partly because I love home-grown veggies SO much more than store-bought. I would plant a more elaborate garden but I'm currently an apartment dweller and need something contained and portable (I'll be moving either in May or August, it looks like). So, two questions, really.
1) What do people recommend for a pot-and-planter garden in Maine? I'm definitely growing some tomatos, peas, and many savory herbs, but I want to know if there's anything else that's hardy, reasonably easy to grow and will do well in a container.
2) Are there any Mainers out there who are willing or able to sell me some ceramic, wooden and/or plastic planters and pots for cheap? Or even are just looking forward to getting rid of some and would let me take them off their hands? I currently have a few plastic window boxes but nothing else, and I'm a poor soon-to-be-college-graduate. I would love to get my hands on some good, big ceramic pots, and of course I can pay for them, but cheaper is better when you're strapped for cash! =)
