I had several pairs of old jeans that my son had outgrown. They weren't good enough to be donated because of holes from various skateboarding "incidents". They've been sitting in a closet, because I couldn't make myself throw them out.
I had decided to make my SIL draft-stoppers for her outside doors. I was standing in the cloth store, looking at the clearance bin when it hit me -- The jeans would be perfect.
I bought a spool of blue thread and went home.
From six pairs of jeans, I was able to make four draft-stoppers. They are each 36" by 8".
And my dear mother -- who loves useful gifts -- gave me an old buckwheat pillow for filler. It was enough to fill three of the stoppers. I used a bag of rice for the last one.
Mom and Dad's birthdays are both on Sunday, so they're getting the two extra.
So, for the price of a spool of thread and a bag of rice, two presents that will help my family save a little money too.
