Over the weekend, one of my hubcaps either fell off or was ganked. I never realized how ugly my tires were under those hubcaps :/ My poor hubcap. All alone, somewhere out there in this big wide world. He's cold, I can feel it. So cold.
Anyway. I need a new damn hubcap. I was hoping you all could point me towards some cheap resources.
I know nothing about cars, so I need to ask more knowledgeable people (hi, frieeeends).
The hubcap is for a 2004 Toyota Corolla CE, and it looks like
this.
I realize the obvious choice would be like Big Bob's Hubcap Emporium, but we have none in my area. And I just need one, so I'm already wary of those "Well, we sell those, but ONLY in a set of four for $$$" answers.
I fully intend to call around to find a good price, I'm not just going to walk in and say "Gimme one of those!" Ugh, I already have enough trouble when I get simple maintenance- I'm a tiny girl with a high-pitched voice, so I swear they always try to sell me a new interocitor (duh, everybody knows those are for making hot chocolate).
So, any ideas of places that would be cheaper than the local dealerships/tire stores?
How much should one hubcap cost? (I'd like to get a ballpark estimate so I'm not like "Durrr $50 for one? Sounds good!")
Any other helpful info would be greatly appreciated!
**EDIT** Holy biscuits! I emailed a local dealership to ask about the hubcap, and here was the reply:
The correct part number is 42621-AB050 and cost is $ 89.19 we have the part in stock for pick-up.
Ninety bucks for a hubcap?! I thought maybe it was the whole wheel or something (hey, what do i know?), so I Googled, and just hubcaps came up. Good lord! That guy better mean 90 bones for a whole set, because I'll be damned if I'm paying THAT much! Hell, I'll grab a random hubcap from the side of the road (see 'em all the time, oddly enough) and shove that on there before I pay that much for one hubcap.
Ummm.... Sorry for the added rant, but this is precisely why I'm asking!
