Once before it was so long and shall never be again;
The dewy moss of yester-morn must account for all its sins.
Rivers flow, dead men hang, the eagles take to wing
The night is darkest 'fore the dawn - before the lark can sing.
Soulless men buy and sell and feed off their own greed;
The only thing this world proves sure is man's undying need.
From birth to death through all of life we struggle with our want -
Want of food and house and income and of hidden things like love.
The ocean rises with the tide and sweeps away the night;
A fiery dawn breaks seamlessly and burns us with its light.
Yet, I cannot help recall the days full of struggle, fear, and woe,
And the time is swiftly passing when the future is all we know.
Your heart is hard and made of fire from years of solitude;
The strength in you will soon expire - empty all too soon.
There is a saving grace, my love, from within and from without;
As the salmon rushing blindly on, you must pay no heed to doubt.
My heart beats quickly, strong and sure in time with yours alone
As the evil in the skies by light is fast outshone.
Do your eyes not sparkle since you've been with me?
Is your mind not lighter, less weary with your dreams?
Now, my darling, forget love's woes and the darkness of the past;
We've sailed from star to shining star, but the journey cannot last.
The time is come, with love's abide, to sail our ships to shore
Where the sea will break, just like our hearts, always and evermore.
