Friday Five (Times Three): Random Pictures

Sep 28, 2012 18:09

I typically take so many pictures with my iPhone that I rarely, if ever, use my digital camera.   Which means that when I finally decide to check the memory card on said neglected camera, I discover that there are a lot of really weird pictures.  Frankly, it took a couple of minutes for me to even remember when/where they were taken!

For example:

A monkey.  Reclining on my laptop.  Totally normal.

I'm sure I took a picture of this because I thought it was really tasty.  Now if I could just remember what the heck it is and who the heck made it.

I was trying to be super stealth and take a photo of this weird guy wearing only cowboy boots and patriotic booty shorts outside of Soldier Field after the Iowa/Illinois football game.  My undercover photos need some work, but you get the gist.

This was the day we went to the Field Museum of Natural History.  I think this is supposed to be a cicada?

Another satisfied customer at meal time!

Not really sure why I took a picture of this, but now that I have your attention -- this is really good yogurt!

You know what I'm thinking when I look at this photo?  Hey!  What the heck happened to those sunglasses?   Seriously.  Where are they??  This is going to bother me all night.

My brother and his family came to town and we ate pizza at a restaurant whose location escapes me.  I have no idea where we were, but it was definitely not within a 25 mile radius of our home.  I don't even know when this was???

Here's a clue...I had really dark hair so it must have been a while ago.  Like almost a year?  I was trying to get clues from the picture.  I have no idea what that leftover cake is from.  Maybe Larissa's birthday?  And what's under that foil?  It looks so mysterious!

I can guarantee you this was probably one of the last times I attempted to get a group shot of all my kids.  This is probably last spring because Larissa has bangs, the boys all look little, and everyone is super-duper PASTY.  Wow!  I love how seriously Hayden took my plea for "ONE decent picture, for the love of God!"

Did I mention that Eliza got a manicure for the first day of school?  Yeah, that happened.

Sometime over the summer, I went to a party.  Some of us may have been drinking more than others.  I mean, if you can judge that sort of thing based upon sombreros....

This is the same party.  Clearly I am taking someone very seriously.  Or I have been told some alarming news!  I wish I could remember what it was, because boy - I sure look concerned!  My husband (in the background), is not taking anyone very seriously.  Apparently our friend dressed like Miss America said something very, very funny.   Or maybe there is something funny about that picture he is holding.  Wait a minute....just exactly what was happening back there??

In more recent news, I had yet another freak accident at Crossfit and almost broke my big toe.  We were flipping tractor tires last night.  I wasn't actually flipping the tire when the accident occurred because that would be too normal.  Instead, my foot collided with the tire when we were attempting to slide it out of the way of the other tire flippers.  Totally random accident.

Cartoon-sized big toe!

That would be a normal sized toe on your right....

It was so freakishly swollen and painful that this morning I went to Immediate Care (with Kellan and Riss - fun!) to have it x-rayed.  I have to laugh because every time I go to the ER with a CrossFit related malady, the staff always oohs and ahhs and says, "Yes! I've heard that CrossFit is really hard core!"  Usually I leave it at that and allow them to imagine that I was doing something far more strenuous and challenging than merely walking when the injury occurred.  Thankfully it was not broken.  It's just a "soft tissue contusion" which sounds a lot cooler than plain old "bruised toe" - which means I will live to walk another day (probably straight into a wall).
