This is a link to "First Do No Harm", a blog about the mistreatment fat people have had by doctors solely because of their fat. Wonder why I don't trust doctors very much? Read all the entries on that blog -- it will take you a while -- there are LOTS. I could probably write a whole blog about the mistreatment I personally have received when doctors have failed to treat me for real treatable problems because they were blinded by my fat. What scares me is that most of the time I have been fat, I have been merely overweight, and even now, I am not the fattest person I know by far. I shudder to think of the mistreatment endured by people larger than me.
Scariest of all are the posts that tell of fat-phobic doctors who train other doctors. We fear they will impart their bias unfairly to the next generation of healers -- who should actually be aware of the numerous creditable studies that dispute the morbidity of fat.
