It bugs me coz they got a new character that has a medical condition that left him hairless from head to toe (played by Steven Weber) but his medical condition has nothing to do with his character or story line. It's just there for flavoring?
It's like they saw NoHo Hank on Barry and they said "we should make a character just like that!" and they did it because...? They're hoping that it gives some quirky trait to an otherwise cookie cutter Hollywood exec character? Even though they only referred to it a few times and they didn't show how his condition influenced his character's views, motivation, personality, etc.
And they didn't even get an actor who has that condition to play him!
I haven't watched Barry but from what I
read, NoHo Hank is a character with quirky traits that just happens to have a medical condition like the actor who played him.
...I don't know. I'm not usually a critic when I watch TV or movies but this has been bugging me since I finished season 2 a few months ago.
Here's to hoping that season 3 will address the issue.
Not holding my breath though.
