Premier League
Newcastle 0 - 0 Manchester United
Oh boy. That went a little wrong didn't it? I didn't find myself getting too annoyed over the FA Cup. The amount of games in the next month is scary as it is but this is Manchester United. It is, ofcourse, dissapointing to miss out on a final. Even worse that it was Man City. They wanted it more, absolutely fell apart in the second half. Those misses by Berbatov were annoying and the mistake that led to the goal was doubly so. Sending off was correct, Scholes has always had the red mist. I've long accepted that he can't tackle but felt both players had their feet up, ball was there. Scholes missed and went in with a little too much force, he had to walk. As he walked down the tunnel I couldn't shake the feeling that this may have made his mind up about retirement.
I'd had a bad day the night we played Newcastle. Not the best of moods to watch what unfolded. Something was off, no-one had a good game. Something I haven't been worried about this season is our finishing but it just didn't happen for us. Newcastle defended well enough to earn a point. There were penalty shouts, I personally think the handball should have been given, the other two (one for each side) are trickier and I can understand why they weren't. The booking for diving was ridiculous though, insulting as Ferguson says. I may have said it's the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen at one point, a point before both of those incidents I should add, and I stick by that but my mood at the time may have contributed to me seeing it the way I did.
Think it might be safer sticking with the baseball the next month.
