Premier League
West Ham 2 - 4 Manchester United
Rooney x 3. Hernandez.
Champions League 1st Leg
Chelsea 0 - 1 Manchester United
Rooney.
This team. This League. It was a funny game, West Ham had two penalties and two goals before we even had time to think. Yet, somehow I knew once we scored our first goal that we would win. A fantastic free kick and that was it. It turned out to be a fantastic day for Manchester United with both our nearest rivals dropping points. After being 2-0 down at half time, I hadn't expected the day to go quite so well. They never give up.
Chelsea wasn't exactly the draw we were hoping for in the Champions League but just avoiding Barcelona made it a good one. It was a fantastic goal, a lovely pass from Carrick (which I haven't been able to say quite as much as I'd like to this season), some amazing work by Giggs and a lovely, if a touch fortunate off the post, finish by none other than Wayne Rooney. They played a risky game after that, allowed Chelsea to go at them but held firm and rode their luck at times. The luck we haven't had in previous meetings so I have little care about the penalty that went ignored by the referee, it's actually kind of fun to see Chelsea doing the ranting and raving for once. It's only half time but it's a good position, taking an away goal home is always the intention. It's not over.
And so, Wayne Rooney. Hated, adored but never ignored. I wasn't impressed by his actions after his dramatic hat-trick to turn around a 2-0 scoreline, I thought his attitude stank. I'm angry that he took the focus away from Manchester United and what he helped achieve that day but he hasn't been given a two match ban for that. He committed the ultimate sin of saying fuck. Yet again the FA prove how inept they truly are or they genuinely believe these lovely people are congratulating Wayne on a goal well scored.
(Although granted, the lady on the far left does look genuinely pleased)
