Went to see The New Statesman last night and I don't know why I didn't want to go. I didn't remember saying yes to going and having not seen much of the TV show the play is based on I didn't really know what to expect. I was a bit quiet and off with my dad beforehand which was more down to work than it was anything else. Anyway it was really good, not really a show to see while sitting in between your parents but still its very well written. Rik Mayall is a great performer, he does well with audiences. I did have a moment as I realised 'Oh my god, it's
drop dead fred'. A good night out.
I didn't plan on watching Any Dream Will Do all the way through but it looks like I'm going to. The quality is much higher than Maria or maybe I just like male voices more. There are points where I get frustrated because I can be watching someone and they can be okay but I can't picture them in Joseph or in any musical because of the songs they are singing. Then Lee and Daniel come out with the two musical numbers and are the two best performers of the night. I'd love for them all to come out and sing songs from, say, Wicked or somet. Okay..Okay I just want to see if Lee would make a good Fiyero but my point still stands. I'm dying to see some proper musical theatre songs.
