So I decided that my basement is just going to look ugly before it looks nice someday when we can afford updates. In an effort to make things easier for the time being I decided to pull up half the carpet in the basement, with all the nasty that we have had on it, it just seemed easier to expose the ugly hard half tile floor below it. So if the sewer backs up again, easy clean up, when the leak in the wall runs water all over the floor, easy clean up, if the cats continue to pee on it, easy clean up. It is truly so much work to clean that raggy carpet up time and time again. Right now I just want the simple approach. So tonight there is going to be a cleaning crew, matt and myself, mopping up the uncovered floor with a bleach water mix. Yeh, there is years of stink under it. I mean the carpet looked nicer, but was also trapping in all sorts of stuff, and was prob from the late 1970s anyhow. I just am in a search for the cleanest approach even if it looks less appealing.
As one person pointed out, "it's a basement and there is only 2 of you living there right now. What is the rush to make it look fantastic. I can see if you had kids and you want another area to usher them into, but you don't yet, so take it easy"
So tomorrow is my 27th birthday. Yup also my girlie "your going to be getting married" party at a hotel with a select few friends. I don't know all that many girls anymore.
