Has it really been a week

Does owning Goo mean that I'm officially hip?

These are the questions I ponder when it's almost midnight. I received an influx of Pixies for Christmas (Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, and Trompe le Monde) as well as Beck's Modern Guilt and the aforementioned Goo by Sonic Youth. This has been the year of alternative rock for me. I started out listening to Hail to the Thief, which led to every single Radiohead album I didn't own stuck on repeat. For the record, I started writing my latest draft of M+I in 2011 with Kid A on constant repeat. Hail to the Thief led to Doolittle which then led to Confusion is Sex which then led to me being reminded that the alternative rock I knew of at 13 was not alternative rock at all.

I also received Persona 4 Arena Ultimax which I have been playing incessantly. The only copy my sister could find was the display copy, so they gave her all the items that came along with pre-ordered copies. So! I have a pack of Persona tarot cards and an inflatable Teddy that I can punch across a room. And I love all the Persona 3 characters that are popping up now. My personal favorites are Ken and Koromaru, who are most certainly not just a boy and his dog. Though Yukari dressed as a pink ranger is fantastic as well.

This hasn't exactly been the best holiday season for me. I don't know if I really want to discuss it at length, but it saddens me greatly. And I might be left with a decision that I don't want to make. It's primarily the reason why I've been avoiding writing about anything. We'll see what happens.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that this is the first Beck album I own. All I owned were "Beck helps out" albums like Charlotte Gainsbourg's IRM, Air's 10,000 Hz Legend, and the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack. Volcano is still the most striking song on Modern Guilt for me, but I do like every track.

video games, music, blah life
