You ever have one of those days that is so miserable, it is actually quite comical? That was my day. Well I should say, that was OUR day. For Katrina and I truly had the ultimate roommate bonding day when this lovely snowy sunday went...a little sour.
It started with last night. We watched a movie called "In her Shoes" (good, by the way) and ate ice cream. After that we went to sleep. Thats when things went bad...for the second night in a row I got very little sleep. I would have these freaky dreams that were sometimes scary, sometimes sad, and it would leave me awake and staring at the ceiling with my mind racing so fast that I would end up witha migraine. So at about 3am I finally start to doze off once again. All was well until I woke up with the worst stomachache. Good ol'Caitlin Marie. So predictable. If there is ice cream involved she wont even give her lactose intolerance a second thought until it's too late. And believe me ladies and gents; it was too late.
I was sick and in and out of bed till 8:30 when I heard the words I hoped I would never hear during my stay on the Fellsway: "HOlY SHIT CAIT - THEY TOOK OUR CAR!"
That's right, we parked on the Fellway and due to a snow emergency we were too oblivious to be aware of, they towed our cars.
After each of us were lectured from the corresponding parents we called up the impound lots and located our vehicles. As luck would have it, the lot was in Medford. So Kat and I layered up and hit the streets. We walked. In a Blizzard. To the place in Medford (about a mile thank God) and paid 110 bucks to get our car out. Mind you, this is 110 bucks that we dont have. AND they gave us a 30 dollar ticket. I dont get paid for another two weeks and at this point I am terrified to balance my checkbook for I know what I am going to find.
After we retrieved our vehicles we asked the cops and the tow trucks where we could park. Their response? That we were shit out of luck. We cant park on the permit only street and we cant park in parking lots. And it is obvious that the Fellsway was no good. Finally we decided to leave our cars at Alewife station overnight for a five dollar fee.
We chilled at my parents for a bit until at about 6 I got in a fight with dad that resulted in yelling, and tempertantrums on my part. That was when Kat and I headed home to Medford. Where we are now, watching tv and avoiding our checkbook and praying that tomorrow will be a better, or at least less expensive, day.
Oh well could have been worse right.
