Pics from August Trip

Back in August, for our 1-year Anniversary, James and I went to the Chicago Botanic Gardens (actually located in Glencoe, IL).  We had such a great time and I've been meaning to show some of the pics from the trip.  Hope you enjoy... some of them make great wallpaper for your desktop, too!

Lotsa Yeller Flowers...

Not sure... but it looks like an orchid.  Purty.

Those dahlias were as big as my head (and that's no small noggin!).

Just in case you always wondered, THESE are pussywillows!

There were tons of roses -- of all colors -- in the Rose Gardens.

I didn't know you could grow grapes in Illinois!

Grapes were covering this arbor.  It was almost like being in a vineyard.

A common Brown Sparrow with UNcommon courage.  She was a sweetheart -- and she didn't want to stop eating just because we were getting really close to her.  We saw lots of other, rarer birds that day, but I couldn't get any pics.

As UNluck would have it, the Japanese and Bonsai Gardens were closed, that day, for some kind of maintenance.  This was as close as we were able to get to them.

From the Waterfall Gardens (naturally)

It was such a great time and I'm sure that all the pics of flowers and trees that I captured will be of great comfort to me in the approaching months of COLD DARKNESS when winter closes in and all colors disappear.  I like variety, though... it's the spice of life.
