A generic update...

I don't think I've mentioned just how much I LOVE Evanston.  It's not just the tree-lined streets, the quaint and yet upscale shops and eateries, but it's also being able to feel like I'm a part of a small little neighborhood.  You nearly forget that downtown Chicago is only 13 miles away (the city limits of Chicago are only about 5 miles away).  Admitedly, I feel like singing the praises of my new hometown mostly due to the big-ass, whole wheat apple cinnamon scone I just ate from Great Harvest Bakery just two doors down from where I work (no, the scone is not actually in the shape of a big ass).  For near the price of what some people pay for coffee alone at Starbucks, I got a huge scone AND a big cup of coffee for $3.50.  Did I mention it was a big ass scone?!!

Aside from living with the love of my life, I realized this morning, too, that I have a LOT of things to look forward to in the next few months.  Probably on the second Sunday in July, we're getting some friends together to go to Six Flags in Gurnee, IL.  James and I will be going to Louisiana in mid-July.  Then, on a weekend in mid-August, we're going to rent a car and head out to Galena, IL (near the Iowa border) and stay in a B&B, go birdwatching, do some nature trails, go "teeking", and all sorts of things.  Then our 1-year anniversary will be on August 21st and there's no telling how we'll celebrate that.  THEN on August 31st we're finally going to see "Wicked".  Friggin' AWESOME -- ALL of this!! :-D

Oh well... I've gotta get back to work.  Just wanted to take a moment to make note of all the COOL things happening in my life... since I sometimes forget to accentuate the positive. :-)

(don't think I didn't also catch the connection between a big-ass scone and actually GETTING a big ass from eating a big-ass scone... c'mon it's friggin' whole wheat -- WHOLE wheat -- that counts for something, right?!)
