some things:
Thing 1. This morning there was a tiny baby preying mantis on my bathroom curtain, trying to look like a twig. I put him out in the garden.
Thing 2. Today I'm driving up to Perth to catch the afternoon flight to Broome to do some work, and there's a cyclone warning just north of Broome. Yike!
Thing 3. My eldest daughter and her fella came to stay the night before last. We drank champagne up on the top of the rock out the back, overlooking the town, had a barbecue tea and then sat around outside in the night air (which was cold, in mid summer, yeah) talking till late. It was such a nice visit! I really like her new fella. It's so nice to meet another young person who doesn't appear to have an entirely cynical view of the world. He's friendly and chatty, loves his family and obviously likes our daughter :) happy mama
Thing 4. My youngest daughter rang me last night, and she never rings me - she hates phones! That made me happy too.
Thing 5. I got a substantial pay rise the other day. Yee haa! It's because we got a whole lot of new contracts and I have to recruit, set up offices, train all our staff in a new program and basically make the whole thing up. Oh yeah. It'll be a breeze ;)
Thing 6. That pay rise means that I have to break the bad news to four employees who may not have a job next year. Actually I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it anyway because I know them and can do it gently. Still doesn't feel good though.
Thing 7. If I don't get off this computer I'll be late. It's a 5 hour drive followed by an hour wait in the airport followed by a 3 1/2 hour flight. Best get on.
Thing 8. Hope everyone is enjoying the Christmassy season.
Thing 9. We are going camping with a whole lot of friends, over near Esperance, between Christmas and New Year. More happy me!
