Standing Up And Saying Jokes

This is probably the best crowd response I've gotten so far, so I'd have to nominate this as my best performance to date. It's an added personal bonus that nobody in the audience is related to me or a friend of mine... I did all this to a room full of strangers, and it was awesome.

There's some new jokes in there... those of you who have been paying attention will notice that I've continued my trend of retooling LiveJournal posts into stand-up comedy material. That kinda' makes all of you my sounding board for writing new material. Hope you feel special.

The best part about this is that I wasn't even scheduled to perform that night. I was going to see my buddy Keith perform, but since I've done a few shows there already, the guys at the door just assumed I was booked and waved me in, cover-charge free. Once I was backstage, I simply pointed out that they "must have forgotten to add my name to the list" of performers that night. They apologized and corrected this oversight, and I cackled internally at my malfeasance.

Since I didn't have to pay cover (or worry about the drink minimum... I like this club, but it's a little pricey, and thus hard to convince my equally-poor friends to come and see me), I was able to get my set recorded. That's another place this club makes money... unless they're paying you to be there, you've got to shell out $25 to get your set recorded. That's why most of my performances there have not been captured on film... but since I had the extra scratch that night, I figured I might as well get this set recorded. I'm glad I did.
