Ten Things I Love About Doctor Who
1) The show, and the spinoffs, are run by childhood fans who grew up and said to themselves, "I can take this wonderful thing, and make it better." And they did.
2) I'll lay odds that some of the wonderful people in fandom today will be doing exactly the same thing in ten years' time.
3) The main character has been played by ten different actors on TV, and dozens of others elsewhere, and there is not one single one of them that I haven't enjoyed for what they brought to the role. Roll on, Lumley!Doctor!
4) Fanfiction. God, I love fanfiction. Reading it, writing it, bitching about it, praising it. I just LOVE it.
5) The glorification of the concept of agapi love... though that's been overshadowed by romance in the new series, which makes me sad sometimes. But in general, yes. Because HE LOVES THEM ALL, DAMMIT!!
6) BBV, the Audiovisuals, Big Finish, and now, DWAD. Because when you drive six hours a day, seven days a week for a living, discovering the joys of full cast audio drama is high up on the list of Best Things Ever.
7) Regeneration. Whoever came up with this deserves a medal. Srsly.
8) The TARDIS. Yeah... that guy or gal deserves a medal, too.
9) Steven Moffat. Man, that guy can write. O_o
10) Fandom. Because you may make me want to scream on a semi-regular basis, but my life would be a lot duller without you. :-)
