MLP: FiM Season 5 episode 24: The Mane Attraction
Oh I loved this one!
The commercial made it look like she *might* be Starlight Glimmer though she also reminded me of Sonata. However I'm glad it was what it was. I thought from the animatic preview that she would be Applejack's long-lost relative and she'd be based on Lady Gaga and her name would be Lady Gala, like the apple! I wasn't *that* far off? Nice that AJ got to do something too. I think she was the mane pony in this one, and I liked that, instead of it being Twilight or something.
The music was great. The "just a pony" song (really called "the Magic Inside" or something) is the best, it's soooo good! Good job Lena Hall! It does sound a lot like the Twilight/Sunset song from Friendship games. Rara's first song reminded me of Rainbow Rocks in a good way. And I really wish Hasbro had done a new Jem cartoon with this talent too, instead of that movie.
Lady Gaga is kind of tired out by now I guess and this probably would have worked better a few years ago? But I guess a good choice for them to base a pony on.
But...but Sapphire Shores is no longer the #1 pop singer pony in Equestria. I'm sad, I love her.
Svengallop is awful. I really liked having a Flim/Flam-style male villain but he was such a jerk. I also think he looks like Rand Paul but on the plus side, he talks like Paul Lynde or Snagglepuss.
The reason most bands have ridiculous rider requests (like the infamous Van Halen one) is to makes sure the venue has read the whole thing (including things about safety). Or so I have read. It's not because they are entitled jackasses, or maybe they are!
Rara was really sweet behind the mask. Kind disappointed as Rara/Rarara is a fan-given nickname to Rarity. I did love the outfit she had on in the dressing room with Rarity, even though she changed it.
I loved Pinkie Pie's reactions throughout this. And Fernando!
Also Flitter and Cloudchaser. And Octavia!
I liked seeing the CMC onstage but it would have been nice to include Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon as they are cool now, right? But you can't have everypony onstage I guess. And Scootaloo learned how to sing!
IDK. Apparently this is the proper way to describe another pony's cutie mark to a third party.
