Recent Sentinel recs
I compiled this list for wesleysgirl, but I thought I'd cross-post it here in hopes of luring some of you over to the Sentinel fandom... ;)
I've read a lot of newish TS fic lately so that I could make nominations for the Light My Fire Awards. Here are my favorites:
My recs for recent (posted in the last year or so) Sentinel slash fics
(listed alphabetically by author; mostly rated R or NC-17, these are mostly character and plot-driven stories in which sex is important but not the primary focus)
Fluterbev* (aka fluterbev) versatile!
- Double Blind near-death revelations
- Staying Present shows how far Jim will go to avenge Blair (dark fic)
- Lesbian Chic funny/cute, with a fabulous first kiss
- Conjunction Blair and Jim reunite after long separation (you'll see that's a favorite theme in this list; several were written for the 10th anniversary of the show's debut :)
Legion* Have You Seen This Man? Sentinel and Guide deal with a natural disaster
LitGal* (aka lit_gal)
- Recovery Epic She wrote this, out of order, as individual ficlets for the fanfic100 challenge and stitched them into a wonderful post-TSbyBS epic. Memorable OCs. My favorite of LitGal's impressive body of work. I love this so much it may be irrational.
- Guidelines series Fascinating AU, set in a world where Sentinels and Guides are known. Excellent world-building.
Mab* (aka mab_browne) heartachey post-TSbyBS tales of Blair and Jim reconciling but only after a long separation
- Before Sunrise
- Cloudbusting series: 1. Cloudbusting, 2. Crossing the Line, and 3. Coastal Shelf
Polly Bywater* (aka polly_b) - great H/C and angst; also one of the few who writes a sympathetic Naomi
- The Retrieval Series (She also wrote a charming sequel, The Good Fathers, for me in exchange for a charity donation)
- Passing Zone Blues - interesting use of Lee Brackett
- Shizuka Shines
Sara* (aka sara_merry99) talented newcomer
- 65 Photographs got me right here (points to heart)
SassyInkPen* (aka sassyinkpen) another talented newcomer
- Venture Forth breezy road-trip story with great dialogue
T.W. Lewis* (aka gardendoor)
- Kaleidoscope and Kaleidoscope 2 Fascinating exploration of the ramifications of a serious brain injury. IMHO, the characterization of Naomi is over the top, but story is otherwise recommended.
