Yesterday was
lunabee34's birthday (I hope it was fun, sweetie!), and she made
a special request: "I wanna start a meme--the I Love My Friends Meme. It seems like a lot more wank than usual has been floating around lj and lots of people have been feeling down or ill or just not as available as usual, like me. So to celebrate my birthday, tell your flist how much they mean to you. If you've got a huge flist, split it up over a few days or even weeks, but tell your fandom friends how much they've enriched your lives." I'm restricting this to people on my "mutual friends" list, though, because what's the point in doing a shoutout for someone who'll never see it?
Well, I think that's a fine idea! So, in honor of Lorraine's special day, here goes:
_suziq_: A mover and shaker in The Sentinel fandom. Because of people like you, I know the fandom is not only alive and well, but thriving. Thank you for your tireless efforts on behalf of Blairbabes (and Garett Maggart fans) everywhere.
aimeelicious: I first friended you because of
Grace, but then we became friends, bonding over relationship angst. I so look forward to meeting you at Writercon!
alice23kate: Katie, you seem to be the teacher/student advocate we all wish we'd had in school. I respect your professional integrity and your actions on behalf of your students, and admire your generosity in raising money for the March of Dimes. I also love you for your unabashed passion for polka and our shared love of ballroom dancing, whimsy, and -- of course -- Xander.
alyburns: Aly, your talent and versatility amaze me. Is there anything you can't write? All of your Sentinel fic is wonderful, but I think I like the AUs best (especially
Future Tense and
Polar Ice Caps. Also, your "Everything's Jake" series is one of my all-time favorite cheer-me-up/guilty pleasure stories.
anelith: I'm so glad LJ brought you into my real life circle of friends! We share a mutual love of science fiction and travel, as well as tastes in fic that are sometimes eerily similar. How many times have I read one of your fic comments or meta posts and thought "Yeah! That's what I think, too!"? Only you say it better. :)
babydraco: I don't know you well, but I do know you're determined to rise above the obstacles in your path and make it on your own terms. You call things as you see them, and I respect that. I regret not taking the time to comment on your Biblical passage commentary posts; I do read them, and I think they're worthwhile and thought-provoking.
beadtific: You're one of the most generous souls I've seen on LJ, and your organizational and fundraising skills for charitable causes are an inspiration to us all. Plus, you're a good writer :). I hope I get a chance to meet you at Writercon!
bunnyohare: You're cute, bubbly, and funny, but you also have solid self-esteem and inner strength -- you don't put up with crap, and I respect that. I admire your openness and your ability to live your life on your own terms, unapologetically.
chicken_cemWe bonded initially because of our fathers; your perspective, understanding, and support during and after my father's final illness meant the world to me. You have a huge heart as well as a delightfully quirky sense of humor.
chris_owen: Two words: gay cowboys. Also, your work formed a bridge from slash fanfic to original slashfic for me (did you know that?). For introducing me to these two things, I am forever grateful.
chrisjournal: A real-life "steel magnolia," your heart and energy are without peer. On behalf of all Whedonverse fans, thank you for your tireless efforts in the fandom, especially for being one of the driving forces behind both Writercons.
cindershadow: Gone but not forgotten; I thought of you as I composed this post. May posts like these honor your memory.
crazydiamondsue: I never know what you'll post about next, but whether it's funny or thought-provoking (often both), I know it'll be worth reading. I can't wait to meet you at Writercon (at last)!
danawoods: There's never any waste in your stories; every word is carefully chosen. You are a master of wordcraft. I really enjoy your non-fic posts, too; since your worldview is very different from mine, they either make me laugh or think -- it's all good. I hope you'll be able to enjoy all of Writercon this time around!
dancetomato: I originally friended you because of
Hours Redux (S/X, NC-17, friends-locked), but I've stayed because of your warmth and charm. I feel privileged to have been allowed to see how you fell in love and started a new life with your beloved.
darkhavens: You are a talented writer (your drabbles are prose jewels!) with a delightfully wicked sense of humor; I wish I could meet you in real life, because I know we'd have a wonderful time talking about, well, just about anything. And, as
bloodclaim mod, you've earned a place in the Spike/Xander section of the Whedonverse Hall of Fame.
elcazavampiros: I don't know you well, but you're Sue's husband, so you must be a great guy! I'm looking forward to your dissection of the new season of Stargate: Atlantis (less than a month away -- whee!).
empty_mirrors: I'm so glad I got the chance to meet you at Writercon! I was never big on Spike/Angel, but you sold them for me with your exquisite prose. I look forward to the publication of your original fiction!
entrenous88: I can't think of pie without thinking of you. :) Your journal is a "must read" for me; your posts always liven up my day, regardless of subject. Thank you for enabling my obsession with figure skating by agreeing to co-mod
fs_watchers. I can't wait to finally meet you at Writercon!
essene: You're an exquisite writer and icon maker. I'm glad I met you at Writercon 2004, and I hope to see you again at the next one! Although I rarely comment in your journal, I do read it, and I'm so happy that you and your SO have found happiness together.
estepheia: It was wonderful to meet you at the last Writercon! Your writing is fabulous, and your command of English is better than most fanfic writers (especially impressive given that your native language is German). I wish you the best in writing (and publishing) original fiction.
fluterbev: Your posts reveal not only writing talent but an overall joie de vivre that's infectious. Your boys drive you crazy, but you obviously love them to bits, and what I wouldn't give to listen in on one of your music sessions. I'd love to meet you in real life; I think we'd get on quite well!
More to come as soon as I can dig out from under my "to do" pile...
During my recent neglect of absence from LJ, I overlooked a very important birthday on June 7:
ladycat777, I hope you had a wonderful day! I'm sorry I missed it.
And, TODAY is
bunnyohare's birthday! I'm sending you virtual birthday hugs (I don't do spanking ;)!
