1) Total number of fandoms I like:

At the moment: two (BtVS/AtS and Sentinel), with the possibility of a third (Due South) if I ever have the time.

2) My first fandom ever:

My first fandom *ever* revolved around books rather than TV or movies: science fiction and fantasy (SF/F) fiction. It motivated me to attend my first convention (Boskone) in 1979.
First TV fandom: Star Trek (the original series). ST was the first show that made me seek out material in addition to the episodes, such as 'zines and tie-in novels.

3) My most recent fandom:

The Sentinel. I've always had a weakness for odd-couple cop partnerships with a SF/F twist (I liked Alien Nation, too, back in the late 1980s), and the premise of The Sentinel fascinates me. I'm kicking myself for not watching it when it was on TV originally, but at that time I was obsessed with Babylon 5 and a new relationship (H); I just didn't have room in my life for anything else. This show is not currently available on DVD, but fortunately, spikedluv (thanks, sweetie!) posted a comment to my appeal for help in finding Sentinel eps. I'll download the first episode tonight -- whee! :).

Due South, another show about an odd-couple cop partnership with hints of the supernatural, is calling to me, too... (I watched and loved it when it was originally broadcast, and at least I can buy those episodes on DVD.) If I had more time, I'd definitely jump into that pool, and I might in the future.

I've been watching Firefly and Queer as Folk, too; I like but don't love these shows. They're just not triggering that obsessive "can't get enough of it" feeling, so I've decided not to get into those fandoms. I am enjoying nasty_shrew's BtVS/QAF crossover WIP, and I'll go read a fic here or there if it's pimped on my flist, but I don't feel driven to go seek them out.

4) Five fandoms that currently mean a lot to me (in order of preference):

I can't really answer this question as such because the only fandom that currently means a lot to me is BtVS/AtS. There have been fandoms that have meant a lot to me in the past, though, so I'll list them (in reverse chronological order).
1) BtVS/AtS -- I don't need to explain why, do I? :) In spite of the fact that I'm branching out into other fandoms, this one is still near and dear to my heart, and I'm not leaving.
2) Babylon 5 -- IMNSHO, B5 was one of the best shows on American television *ever*. I wish I had known about slash fanfic when this show was on! Mmm... Marcus, the Ranger, and Dr. Franklin would make a pretty hot very interesting couple... Hmm... maybe there's been a resurgence in the fandom now that the DVDs are out... No. I must stop that thought right now. I don't have tiiiiiime!
3) Star Wars -- the original trilogy, that is; the second trilogy has been a disappointment. One of the reasons I studied film in college was that I wanted to be a film editor for the likes of George Lucas or Steven Spielberg.
4) Star Trek -- without a doubt, this show changed my life. Strangely enough, although I know that the first slash fanfic written was in this fandom, I'm not interested in reading it.
5) Science fiction and fantasy fiction. I started reading SF/F at age nine and haven't stopped. When in college, I was a member of my school's science fiction society and published two issues of its 'zine (reviews, essays, and original stories; no fanfic).
