the other day, as i was walking out of my building to catch the train to connecticut, my doorman handed me a little package. i debated taking it with me, because my bag was so heavy and i had the two dogs with me. i ended up taking it and walked with it spinning it around in my hands all the way to grand central with the dogs.
once i got on the train and settled in, i broke in to the package. before i could see what it was, the scent of mint and ... something stronger wafted out. i reached in and pulled out two lovely packaged squares, one bigger than the other. the first was called
madcap garden - it was a handmade soap made from mint and black tea, an unusual mixture. it took me a minute to find that my friend
toxicsiren sent me some etsy love and the perfect timing of it all was too much. the small square was a sample of
envy made from bamboo, sandalwood, and basil.
with all that has been going on in my world, especially with my gram, i haven't taken the time to take care of myself properly. 10a has suffered a great deal, as has my laundry, my eating habits, my exercise. it was the perfect gift from erika at the perfect time to remind me to take a minute for myself for spoiling. i love the soap - thank you so much!
in the meantime, i am still getting over my third cold of the year. someone told me that some newspaper wrote about this year's cold season and how everyone seems to be getting sick over and over again. i didn't have the patience to look for it. and then again, i feel like everyone says "this year was so much worse than last" every year! to tell you the truth, i can't remember. all i know is that it has sucked so far this year.
and so, i've started myself again on a
detox diet to try to right myself back into health. it worked for me three years ago - so here i am again.
i head to work soon - we have
the vienna philharmonic for a few days this week, which generally makes things crazy. oh ... and if you're friends with me on facebook, i hung out with
dr. ruth again the other night, but this time she said i should take a picture, so i did.
proof on facebook.
