Random celebrity nonsense
There's lots of talk of celebrity sightings on my friends list today, so I figured what the hey!
Now I know that I have an unfair advantage #1 living in NYC, and #2 working in the entertainment industry, but I have a couple of good sightings to tell you about. Generally, most of the time, when I see someone I just sort of am like, "oh hey, what's up Uma Thurman" in my head (mind you) and keep walking. (Uma is one of my neighbors and I see her all of the time.) Or "hey what's up Ric Ocasik" in my head, and keep walking. (Again - neighbor who I see almost daily.) "What's up Jimmy Fallon" and keep walking, though Jack says he doesn't count as a celebrity anymore.
The other day though, I sat across from Natalie Portman on the subway. She's really gorgeous. She was wearing a huge orange Virginia Tech Football sweatshirt which I thought was super cool of her. Why do I think she shaved her head? Did she shave her head for a part? Her hair looked tremendous and shiny and amazing on the subway. Was it a wig?
Anyway, I have to tell you about a celebrity sighting that my friend had the other day. Now in NYC, there are alot of celebrities that make the scene and you see constantly. For example, I've seen Jay Z and Beyonce numerous times (besides the shows I worked with them), and any good NYer will probably say the same. Who's another good example of this - you know, like MK and Ashley Olsen. Again, they are making the scene always and are always at a show/club/whatever.
So my friend is working some random show at Irving Plaza whatever-the-hell-it's-called-now venue, and who's there in VIP ??? ... none other that JOYCE DEWITT!! He went up to her and she hugged him and even searched him out to say goodbye. He said she was the coolest ever.
