Well! It's been a very eventful day.
It's been quite some time since I wrote an entry, actually. I'm back at uni now, and have been for a week and a half or so. It's been good! The first night back, we went out to a sort of retro-pop night at the union - it's always hilarious, and it wasn't any different that time. They played Five and the Spice Girls as well as older stuff, and Gemma fell over several times (being rather drunk) but just kept getting back up. She certainly has determination!
Other than that, I haven't actually been doing that much (until today of course). I've had exams, so I've been "revising", though that hasn't gone so well. What with me being such a bad worker. Anyhow, on Friday night (the night before my physics exam - yes, they made us do our exam on a Saturday), I was getting really stressed out and upset, as is usual with me when it comes to exams. It's stupid, I always get at least mildly stressed out, because I don't actually do enough work. Argh. Anyway, thankfully Lottie and Lizzie put up with me and calmed me down, and we ended up watching a film. So, anyway, the exams all actually went alright (I hope!), or at least better than I expected. So I hope I've passed. I took great pleasure in noticing that people weren't following the rules on the front (write the answers to different sections in different answer books! Honestly.), and then eavesdropping on people's conversations about how it went afterwards. Made me feel a lot better.
Anyway, I had my last exam yesterday (maths), and proceeded to spend the evening doing almost entirely useless things, such as playing the sims, and reading fic.
Today, however, I went into town with Lottie, Lizzie, and Keith (Lottie's friend from home who's come to visit), and ended up buying two CDs (Prisoners of Love by Yo La Tengo, and Illinoise by Sufjan Stevens), which weren't the one I'd actually been planning to buy which nowhere seemed to have in stock (The Crane Wife by The Decemberists). I'll just have to go into town again to find it... the hardships I suffer. I also bought a strappy top (stripy as well!) from Primark. Fab.
After that, we were going to view a house! It was the first house we went to look for in our search for somewhere to live next year. Rachel (our 4th housemate) was with us by this point. Anyway, this first house was in a fab location, but was actually pretty rubbish. One of the bedrooms was a lot smaller than the other ones, which isn't a problem except that it was actually miniscule. Like you could barely see any floor, what with the bed and all. Also, the house was incredibly messy. I am not exagerating in any way, it really was a complete tip! We were very impressed. Especially with the large quantities of hash on the coffee table. The mess wasn't really a deciding factor in our not liking the house though, that was just because it really wasn't that nice, had 1 v small bedroom, a tiny kitchen, and a small living room. Also it was up a hill even steeper than the hill of doom. And it was £54 a week, and therefore at the higher end of our budget (yeah, we're a bit cheap).
However, we cheered ourselves up by going to WokMania. It was my first time, and it was amazing. We all ate rather more than was strictly necessary. It was fab.
And then we headed back out again to view another house! This one was in an area that's generally cheaper, as it's a little further out from the uni, and generally isn't so popular with students. However. This house was AMAZING. The landlord was lovely and friendly, and the house was fab. The bathroom was a little scruffy, but he's fixing that up this summer, and the rest of it was great. A big attic bedroom, two other very generously sized bedrooms (one on groundfloor, but you can't really avoid that easily), and one smaller bedroom, but it actually a decent size, and still had plenty of storage (and the world's largest pinboard), and Lottie says she'd like that one anyway. The kitchen was also really nice, being almost new, and a decent size - like we could all be in it if necessary - and the living room was much bigger than the previous one we saw, and also had a ridiculous amount of storage. We also aren't bothered by being in the less popular area - it's only about 5 minutes further from uni than we are at the minute, and there are plenty of shops nearby, so it shouldn't be a problem. Ooh, it also has a south-facing patio. Fab. So all in all, we really want this house. Despite it being the second one we've seen. So, we've emailed the guy (almost straight after we got back!), asking for a few details, and to see the contract, and hopefully we'll be able to get this house. However, we've also booked to see another house in the area (which is actually cheaper - our house that we love is £45 a week, this other one is £40), but I doubt it will be as nice - and it's a bit further away again and down a sidestreet which could be creepy at night. Anyway, we thought we'd better look at another one just in case. But yeah. Fingers crossed we can get this one!
So. What a lot of excitement! And in a couple of hours we're going out to Fuzz (can't remember if I've mentioned this before - indie night at the union), yay! And going to see the Decemberists next Friday!!
