So! Another busy day in Edinburgh.
First, I got ready very speedily, and then headed out with mum, and I waited while she had a checkup at the dentist, and then we went to Cameron Toll so I could sort out some stuff at the bank and also stock up on Scottish food at Sainsbury's. And then it was on to Princes Street: noticed how many Scottish flags there are all over the place, and saw the bagpipers changing shifts, and also browsed some of the shoe shops, without success. Also commented very pointedly to Mum on how nice the scarves in H&M are. And then I went to meet Robyn! We had lunch in Chocolate Soup, which is still my favourite cafe, only increased by the presence of French staff today. I tried the chocolate soup itself today. It was an experience and a half. Possibly two experiences. Amazing stuff, really hard to drink because it was so thick. Anyway, Robyn and I talked about all manner of things, and spotted Nicola L out the window, so I went out and said hi to her, and then Robyn and I talked some more, and wandered down Princes Street for a browse. Stopped at Crabtree & Evelyn to test the perfumey things. I still smell of roses. And then Robyn had to depart, so I stopped at the Edinburgh Woollen Mill to get some tablet, only disaster struck but I didn't notice until later: I accidentally got fudge instead! Horror! But it's actually alright, tastes exactly the same, just without the sublime texture. If Tescos have some of the real stuff tomorrow I shall pick some up. After escaping the tartan nightmare of the woollen mill, I headed across the street and down the steps to the One World Shop. I love that place. I indulged myself and bought a purple silk rose thing and some garnet earrings. Which weren't too expensive, considering. And then it was on the bus home (I'd forgotten about the tartan seats!), and some eavesdropping on people with much better accents than mine, and then the walk home.
This evening, after another lovely dinner by mum, I accompanied mum to her art class. It was pretty groovy. It's glass fusing. I made a piece (with a guitar on it!) which should be out of the kiln and ready by next week, so I'm getting mum to post it.
The plan for tomorrow is to go for a walk in Aberlady Bay, one of my favourite places, and then after lunch I've got my train back to Sheff. Almost said back home there.
I kind of wish I was staying a bit longer, but then again I also want to get back, so. What a conflict!
Anyway, that's enough, I should be doing something vaguely constructive. Like wandering round the house to decide what to bring back with me.
