3. Falling asleep to the sound/Of sirens...

Jun 24, 2009 22:21

... strange, I could have sworn I saw an entry mentioning this earlier...

But to anybody concerned about their sleep being affected by the voices, I'd like to remind them that Medical Island has a supply of sedatives available if you are desperate for rest. I also I have found several boxes of earplugs and have started distributing them to my ( Read more... )

I believe exercise and attempts to focus on other matters would be better than resorting to drugs.

The earplugs, however, sound useful.

Of course, I just wish to have all options open.

Medical Island is on the map if you would like to come and get a pair.

That is a good idea. I should visit there in any case.

Why not? XD pompous_today June 25 2009, 03:00:42 UTC
I will be on the lookout, then.

Very well.

[She finds Medical Island... this looks a bit primitive too but adequate. Hopefully, anyway. Stops a passing attendant. Still in her newbie clothes, 'cause they're comfy and all.]

Where might I find Will?

[Will hears his name being spoken and finishes attending to the person he's currently giving a headache remedy to, then comes up to Handmaiden, nodding his thanks to the attendant and giving a friendly smile.]

That would be me; are you Handmaiden?

[She nods once and looks over Will. He seems to hold himself a bit stiffly, not that flexible.]

Yes.

I have been able to tune out the voices for the most part through exercise, but I do not want to lose sleep because of them.

[He nods, reaching into his pocket and offering her a pair of earplugs.]

Here you are; I hope they're of some help to you. It's good to try and divert your attention however you can, but it's just as good to rest your body, too.

[She takes them.]

Thank you... I know rest is important, but it is not only to distract myself from the voices. I feel as though I have lost so much with my memories... but training feels as though it is routine to me.

I know those feelings well- both loss and something feeling routine. As I mentioned to you earlier, I was called a doctor in my dream, and thankfully it appears to have been accurate. I still feel as though I am missing or forgetting some of my skills, but a lot of things are coming back to me naturally. It's not the same as having memories back, but it's good to at least have that sense of familiarity.

[Will pauses, and his eyes briefly turn unfocused and distant, but it is only fleeting.]

[There's something somewhat familiar about him.]

Yes. Even if we do not consciously remember, our bodies know what our minds do not. The skills will come back, if we train.

[She notices the brief flicker of attention, but isn't sure what to say about it.]

[Will nods agreement.]

Memories do in time, I believe. I've heard from several people that there ARE ways to recover actual memories, though it is not easy. I've also been fortunate enough to meet someone who knew me in my past life- before I came to Edensphere- though I do not quite know who she is yet, or what our relationship was.

[There's a bit more to her voice now, a definite curiosity and a hint of wistfulness.]

You have? That is very fortunate, yes... I do not believe there is anyone from my past here. I am sure that you will be able to help each other remember.

I hope so, and I hope that you're able to discover more about yourself, too. It's difficult and frustrating to come to a place like this and know almost nothing about yourself...

[She hesitates for a fraction of a moment.]

I must admit... I find it unnerving. All of the experiences of our lives have been wiped away, and the dreams do not offer many details to follow.

[Will nods in agreement.]

"Unnerving" is a good place to put it. Especially because even people who have been here for a while know so little of it. Why we are brought here... why we have no memories...

[His expression then brightens.]

But until we get answers- if we ever do- I'll continue to do my work. People here need my services, memories or not.
