Making a peep
I know it's been a long time...and yes, you have to deal with me saying that "it's been a long time" every time it's been a long time even though I know it's probably understood.
Anywho, here I am now in Columbia, MO. Home sweet home. Actually, it's not so bad. I miss Columbus more than I thought I would, and I miss my friends there, and the things to do, and the convenience of being able to walk places. But, all in all, being home is pretty nice as well. I have tons-o-family around from all sides, which is good from both an entertainment/distraction standpoint, as well as a babysitting standpoint.
I never really realized how friendly people are in the midwest. I just don't know how to react to people being so smiley and chatty in the grocery store. In Columbus, you were lucky if the cashier even acknowledged you, and the other patrons in line didn't run over your feet with the cart! Here, you're lucky if the cashier doesn't tell you a recipe for every single item you're buying, and the people in line with you stop short of telling their entire life story.
It's really nice to be doing some table-top gaming again. Finally, a night I get to get out and do something! It's also been too many years since I've been able to have a consistent gaming group, so that is tres good.
Alex Watch: Well, if you're like me, you can't believe that he's over a year. Holy crap, I have a 1 year old! How in the world did that hap- nevermind, I can figure it out. He's running amok all over the place, so I should probably buy that boy some shoes at some point. He almost got his cute little face totally mauled yesterday when he stepped on the dog over at grandma's house. Maybe he'll start learning to pay attention to where he's walking? I hope so.
