i came out of the bathroom at 8:45 or so and the bells at the congregational church were clanging like crazy. i, of course, said, "what the fuck is up with those bells?!!" to which colby looked at me like i'd just stepped on a kitten and i remembered that today is september 11. go me.
that's all i'm going to say about that.
yesterday was my first Low-tech Printmaking class. we "learned" how to collage with wheatpaste and matte medium. actually, barbara gave us a demonstration while repeatedly saying how embarrassed she was to be teaching us how to glue. our first assignment is to college on a wood panel, but since i want to sew i'm circumventing that by sewing a cover for the board and collaging on the cover. if by collaging you mean sewing photocopies of my creature drawings onto fabric bodies and the sewing those to the cover. i love sewing so much. it's the most meditative thing in the world, especially when i'm sewing soft sculpture and it doesn't have to be perfect and in fact looks better when it's not.
i am almost done with my TFA application. i just need to write my "letter of intent" and format the resume and essay i've already finished. i think...my first choice for placement is going to be the bay area. but that could change. you don't get to tel them yr preference until yr interview, anyway. and that's in November.
