What a week.
Not only did we think my son ate the meds, but he decided that he was big enough to go out on his own.
Monday we laid down for a nap about 345 or so. Kai fell asleep (or so I thought), Em fell asleep, then I fell asleep. Now, this is normal nap time for us, maybe just a bit later than usual. We lay down for at least an hour and a half, sometimes two and a half hours. Well, being exhausted from this weekends events, I woke up at 545ish. When I woke up, I noticed that Kai was not on the couch with me. I wasn't too worried, because the front screen door was locked, and the gate was up for the back door. I got up and looked for Kai. Well it turns out, that he wasn't anywhere to be found.
Enter hysterical mom mode.
I called the neighbors, nobody had seen him. I dialed 911 and reported him missing. I got ahold of one more neighbor, and she called me back. She mentioned she saw a cop with a little kid, but she didn't realize it was Kai. She was on her way to kung fu practice, so she didn't pay too much attention anyhow. Well, after that call, I called the 911 operator back and told them what my neighbor said. The dispatcher said, "yes ma'am we do have your son, and an officer will be bringing him home shortly"
Once Kai got home with the police escort, a silver car pulled up behind the squad car. Out walked a guy in a suit. Turned out it was a DHS worker. We ended up going inside and doing a 'welfare' check. We narrowed down the 'escape' route.
He got off the couch, went upstairs through the front stairs. In the hallway he knocked the gate down and went down the back stairs. Once he got into the kitchen from the back stairs, he opened the sliding screen door, went outside onto the porch, and then shut the sliding screen behind him.
Yes, I have Houdini for a son.
