Bring the Kids...

Ah. The York Fair. I love the York Fair. www.yorkfair.org rocks. Conversation with my sister:

Me: Guess where I'm going at 1:00?!
Her: I give up.
Me: www.yorkfair.org
Her: Whoo. The York Fair website?
Me: No, the Fair!!!

Anyway, I have this thing for atmosphere. If something has a great atmosphere I will love it. If it has great atmosphere and is in York County, it gets bonus points. I went to the fair Sunday and I have to say it was one of the best trips to the fair ever. I don't know if it beats the Alabama concert I saw there a few years ago -- that was probably the best. But I think it does beat the time I won the hay bale-tossing contest when I was little (even though I won a free t-shirt from that).

Anyway, I had a stellar time at the fair. I drank a Rutter's milkshake (the best!), ate a Tubby Tommy's baked potato (the best!), played I Got It! (the best), tried a pumpkin funnel cake (ok), and tried to win a fish. I saw a calf (like I'd never seen one before!?) and goats (which were being showed by the three cutest little boys, EVER!) and horses (which I hate). I saw some pretty pictures and dead flowers and hot tubs and tractors and four wheelers. I talked log houses. I almost rode the Ferris Wheel, but I thought $5 a person for the basket Ferris Wheel was a rip off so I said to forget it. It wasn't the real Ferris Wheel. I heard Rascal Flatts warming up, but didn't go to the show. I was offered a bite of Pulled Pork.

And now every time I hear Kenny Chesney's "Anything but Mine" I'm reminded of the York Fair, even though we didn't find the skee-ball slides and it was daylight, so we didn't see the carnival lights, but I know they were there. Hopefully my story will have a happier ending.

Yes, the York Fair gives good atmosphere.
